Once the current US administration realizes it is a book and not just a slang term or actual number, they still may attempt to ban it.

It isn’t a country, but you should add the Failed State of Florida. #1 in book banning!

“Communist” country banning a book written by a communist? Classic

Strange that neither China nor Russia, nor even the United Kingdom itself, has banned or previously banned this book.

Haha, wow, way to tell on yourselves. Reminds me of how religious fanatics tend to be anti-gay and want to suppress homosexuality because they’re in the closet.

Coincidentally, I just read 1984 for the first time. I sure did pick an interesting time to read it.

The US banned it for being Communist.
The USSR banned it for being anti-Communist.

Actually, for those calling it ironic, here’s the real twist: in China, 1984 is used as an argument against the perils of capitalism. Of course, they can see just as easily as anybody else that it’s a critique of totalitarianism but the government thinks they’re too stupid to figure it out.
