    1. It’s actually happening isn’t it? Well, I’ve had a good run; I only hope that my death in this upcoming war is quick and as painless as possible.

      >“The United States needs Greenland for the purpose of National Security. It is vital for the Golden Dome that we are building. NATO should be leading the way for us to get it”

It’s NATO, he can do everything he wants through NATO. The dementia riddled pedophile is intent on tipping the U.S. over.

      >“NATO becomes far more formidable and effective with Greenland in the hands of the UNITED STATES. Anything less than that is unacceptable.“

Trump Continues being a Nazi, A Fascist, and a Pedo, all rolled into one disgusting blob of orange dementia.

    4. > IF WE DON’T, RUSSIA OR CHINA WILL, AND THAT IS NOT GOING TO HAPPEN! Militarily, without the vast power of the United States, much of which I built during my first term, and am now bringing to a new and even higher level, NATO would not be an effective force or deterrent – Not even close! They know that, and so do I.

Since NATO is an effective deterrent, Russia or China can’t get Greenland, dingus.

Stop calling, texting, driving past the house, and showing up at parties you weren’t invited to.

      Greenland just isn’t into you.

Considering the shit that’s trickling out, whether true or not….yeah, all these politicians, in almost every country are part of the distraction.

Trump needs to keep crashing out so his health plummets.

    7. Only1Nemesis on

Awesome start to the day, I must say. So we are really doing this, huh? Well, Greenland already said no and Trump said that’s not an acceptable answer.. so what’s his next move? Invasion?

Pucker up, USA. I smell a shitstorm coming. Hope everyone has stocked up on non-perishables. I don’t think this is going to end well. If those bonds start getting offloaded and sanctions hit, our avocado toast about to skyrocket in price.

Trump won’t care though. He and his billionaire buddies can afford to spend $1000 on a Big Mac while ICE switch gears from practicing on immigrants to handling the general pop. Is it any wonder why his cohorts live on military bases? Hmm.

    8. If I were the representatives of Greenland and Denmark, I would look at this and at Venezuela, and ask myself why I am making a trip to the White House.

Europe needs to stand up to this bully. TACO. The man is a coward and respects people who treat him like shit while smiling, like Putin. Stand up to him and he will find another shiny distraction.

Sparking WW3 over a giant iceberg is such a brilliant move. Almost as smart as bathing with a toaster.

It’s so vital that the US has 140 troops based there…

The US had AD missiles stationed in Greenland during the Cold War. The US can station them there today if they so choose.

    12. OHthisiscrazy on

He’ll use the fact that NATO resisted him or didn’t help him seize Greenland to leave/dissolve NATO itself. Watch.

      >“IF WE DON’T, RUSSIA OR CHINA WILL, AND THAT IS NOT GOING TO HAPPEN!

No, Russia or China won’t because the United States is *already* obligated to defend Greenland like it is their own territory, whether it „owns“ it or not. That’s quite literally the point of NATO and the reason why Russia or China wouldn’t dare to attack. An attack on Nuuk carries the same consequences as an attack on Berlin or Athens or Los Angeles.

It’s obviously not about military protection or the United States would simply reinstate its presence on Greenland to its previous levels after its drastic reduction following the Cold War. Something that Greenlandic and Danish politicians have repeatedly invited the US to do.

But really it’s about the natural resources, isn’t it? The United States needs and demands unrestricted and exclusive access to mineral rights without some pesky local or international governments getting in the way. Trump wants his cut of the profits.

Hello? Congress?? Anyone home over there?

Tim Kaine was on one of the news shows last night, and they asked him why the war powers resolution only included Venezuela and not places like Greenland (and the myriad of other countries that he’s threatening). His answer was that he was afraid he’d lose republican support. How is that even possible when there are republican senators who have already said they don’t want him using the military in Greenland? Do your damn jobs ffs!

    15. Most-Appointment-756 on

Isn’t he supposed to have a meeting today with Danish ministers?
Will this be America’s iceberg , like the one that sank the titanic?

    16. Nachtgedachte on

The NATO Greenland treaty of 1951 (and its latest version of 20something) already gives the USA full militairy access to Greenland for defence purposes.

They can build bases, ports, airstrips and whatnot, they just need to -ask- Denmark (and nowadays Greenland) if they can do so, which is a formality.

So no, there is no need to “own” the land to defend against enemies.

      Speaking of enemies…

Russia never threatened to take Greenland

China never threatened to take Greenland

Only the USA did so multiple times…

    17. Lonely-Abalone-5104 on

It’s for Trump only. He wants to take over countries because his dictator idols are doing it. There’s nothing more to it. He’s collecting countries like sports memorabilia

    18. I seriously hope this doesn’t fucking happen. If it does I hope people actually start a general strike because I am not okay with attacking an allied nation’s territory. Fuck all these lunatics that voted for this.

    19. We are a failed nation. Both sides of the aisle should kick his ass out. One side’s a coward, one side’s complicit. Pitiful.

    20. You know what, Morpheus was right in The Matrix when he said „1999 – the peak of human civilization.“

We’re on a very fucking steep downward slope.

    21. He’s a on a super high power trip, because congress is not doing jack shit to reign him in.

    22. Bishopjones2112 on

Is the president of the United States openly threatening war with NATO to gain control of a land resource belonging to a NATO country? Can we please all examine this and realize that this man is unwell and unfit to be president. I don’t think many Americans truly appreciate the level of insanity that this is. Or maybe dementia or hell maybe just pure dumb. I don’t know maybe it’s working as an ally to Putin. In any case it’s a cause to remove the president. You know the whole desire to plunge the world into war.

    23. ubertrader123 on

If trump invades Greenland, a NATO member through Denmark, would the US lose all its NATO bases throughout Europe. I would imagine that NATO host countries would expel the US from the bases.
The US would lose most force projection and logistical capabilities. Whole divisions of prepositioned equipment would need to be removed from European NATO bases.

    24. Classic Trump.

Greenland is already secure and his actions make it less secure

    25. He throws that stupid “for national defense” line at everything. We already have a military base there, and could expand that if we wanted. Absolutely no reason for us to own it, especially as it’s already a part of NATO

    26. Capt_Unbrauchbar on

Didn’t he already claim it’s just for his psyche (Ego) to get Greenland. And now this Golden Dome Bullshit? Because I think he doesn’t knows the diffrence between the Golden Dome and a Golden Shower.

    27. Those files must be fucked. I am convinced at this point he not only raped girls, but was part of trafficking them

    28. ArchonHakkar on

Donald Trump will destroy NATO at the behest of his commander Putin. Mark my words the excuse Trump is giving isn’t adding up to anyone with IQ above 12. This will be the nail in the coffin for NATO and the Rapist/traitor in chief is the one who brings it’s destruction.

I think Marine One should drop off Trump and his entire cabinet, plus major donors, right in the middle of the Greenland ice sheet, and then fly off without leaving any supplies.

Let all these “alpha males” fight for it themselves.

    32. He simply can’t comprehend the concept of an ally and mutual cooperation.

There’s nothing he’s said about Greenland’s position relative to national defense that can’t ALREADY be done.

Ownership of Greenland does nothing to change that

    33. FredFredrickson on

Just a reminder that Republicans still control the government and could stop this madness at *ANY TIME*.

They choose not to because they are spineless cowards, too scared of Donald Trump to act.

    34. Reddit_Fruity on

In Europe, we’ll be glad when the plug is pulled from NATO. Then we’ll no longer be accountable to the US. A new alliance is growing, comprised entirely of democratic and economically strong countries.

Things aren’t perfect here either, but still… It’s truly sad for all right-thinking Americans, and there seems to be no end in sight (maybe in November?).
