Iceland has recently changed their tune and is thinking about opening EU talks
Rejected sounds so dope tho
I hope that one day we can come back.
Rejected is too harsh a term imo, „Previously declined to join (by referendum)“ would be more accurate but a lot more of a mouthful.
Elections and votes are not final, people can change their minds; & movements decline & grow. If I recall correctly the vote in Norway was reasonably close in the 90s, there may be more of an appetite now (I don’t know).
Georgia is a candidate as well
Morocco also tried to join the European Community but was rejected
These maps need a date within.
And what is a possible candidate 😅
Why don’t Russia and Belarus join the EU?
Usually these days the EU looks ok for normal in the head people.
Turkey still a candidate? Seriously?
Why don’t city states like San Marino or Monaco or Andorra join the EU? Is it because they are small?
for norway and iceland the fisher lobby rejected the eu
How has Slovenia and Croatia decided to be part of the EU when the rest of Yugoslavia is considering it?
Maroko – rejected by EU.
As someone from Northern Norway, the EU is a Hell NO. Joining the EU would kill many small communities. Even the EEA introduced so many regulations that my grandfather had to shut down his fish factory in the early 2000s.
„Rejected the EU“ is a bit of biased description. There are certain requirements for joining the EU that the applicant country needs to follow, both the EU and the country rejects each other.
