A president gatekeeping oil rights on foreign land, this must be more of that small government they all talk about

He didn’t dump me, I dumped him…

He clearly didn’t listen to a word of what Exxon actually said.

It didn’t sound like Exxon wanted in anyways. Trump is trying to make it seem like them not investing in Venezuela is his choice and not that he’s actually being told no. What a child

Its a bizzare stituation where it almost looks like he ordered the strikes and kidnapping thinking that American oil companies were all salivating at the thought of getting a chance to invest again in Venezuala. Now that Exxon has bluntly told him the truth, he says that they are being too cute.

Probably the best thing Exxon could’ve hoped for.

“They’re playing too cute”. He’s such a mobster.

He’s like a little kid kicking another kid out of his club house made of cardboard or a pillow fort because they weren’t playing the way he wanted them to.

Uh oh, they don’t tell Trump he’s wonderful …

it’s just exxonmobil playing trump for free PR. they get to play the “see? we’re the good guys” card, and trump (and the public, writ large) take the bait. no investment needed.

A bit of context, the CEO of Exxon called Venezuela „uninvestable“ and pointed out that previous attempts to do business there ended up with their assets being seized by the state.
*“We have had our assets seized there twice and so you can imagine to re-enter a third time would require some pretty significant changes from what we’ve historically seen and what is currently the state.“*
Then there was the time that Rex Tillerson, a previous Exxon CEO called Trump a „fucking moron“ after serving as his energy minister in his first term.
Banning Exxon from involvement in Venezuela is like someone sacking you after they’ve already resigned and left the building.
I doubt that Trump will get many takers either, especially as the US government issued advice at the weekend to any US citizens in Venezuela to leave the country:

You mean the guys who politely told you to go fuck your own face if you expect them to bonfire money with no upside?
It’s giving you can’t quit you’re fired vibes. This president is pathetic
