I think his name is either Jack Nicholson, or Santos.
I never noticed Jack was emulating the Baphomet statue pose.
Goes right into the theory that the movie is about evil that is revisited because it is never understood, just being passed on to the next generation over and over.

>who is this fuckin guy
He was a ballroom dancer.
Also if he’s trying to do the Baphomet, he’s doing it all wrong and you’re not going to get ‚as above, so below‘ from that. Chances are he’s waving at the camera and you’re panicking over nothing.

We’re told Kubrick knew stuff but there’s no evidence beyond the usual Easter eggs you would find in any movie

Strangely the OP’s user profile has seemingly been deleted; which adds to the intrigue of this post.
The deeper dive is interesting surrounding the origin of the photo, but the way of leading people there landed as somewhat curious and reactive to me.

It was a very unnerving/creepy ending to the movie, I’ll give you that.

Why is he not pointing? That’s actually a significant part of the sign.
This is the equivalent of saying anyone who is raising a hand or has their hands out to the side is doing a Jesus pose.

Top picture does appear to be Santos Casani – born Joesph Goldman. Top photo is real.
Jack Nicholson for all the shit he got over the years for making The Shining & Witches of Eastwick and other films and uh… activities- is Catholic. He never would work for Kubrick again, he was offered MISERY before James Caan, and said no thank you one Stephen King film was enough for a lifetime.
During the making of the Two Jakes, Keitel and Nicholson had a discussion about Kubrick, Keitel didn’t get a role with Kubrick much earlier in his career and Nicholson reminded him that some things are better to say you did, and you didn’t, while other things are just as well to say you didn’t do them, even though you did. Keitel said that with Eyes Wide Shut he’d wished that he’d taken Jack seriously, because after 60+ takes on a scene that amounted to „Wave“- kubrick was still wanting more takes. Keitel and he got into a fight, Tom tried to use his Elron of Hubbard superpowers to handle their clearly thetan based issue and failed with Keitel telling Kubrick to „GFY, FY I quit !“. Apparently Kubrick went back to his chair and got out his jewelers loupe and started examining film, almost like a David Lynch character. I don’t know about the last sentence but I have heard Keitel recount his quitting Eyes Wide Shut and why.
The other reason I am skeptical about „Baphomet“ being invoked for the picture of Casani and the later recreation by Kubrick for the Shining is this:
Baphomet isn’t agreed upon enough to say „Oh So and So is clearly doing Baphomet. Even when Eliphas Levi released his grimoire(or grim not)= apparently Baphomet as a reference to the Goat of Mendes didn’t always have two fingers raised on the right hand- I have heard that the # is attributed to a certain fraternal organization that has a reputation for being a secret society). Also a woodcarving of Baphomet had right hand making a 3 with his pinkie meeting his thumb as some occult nod and wink, while his left hand was making the „La corna“- which Ronnie James Dio claimed was an Italian response to the evil eye, Gene Simmons claimed it was his invention subject to copyright and thus subject to allowing him to make money(all things fall under this classification when Gene Simmons is concerned), Metallica says it is a ritualistic act to do with one hand while your other hand is holding a lit cigarette lighter is bobbed up and down.
I don’t see „Baphomet“ in either pictures- neither has the subjects making a numerical act with right hand or „la corna“ with the right.
At some point we eventually have to just agree a banana is a banana and not Baphomet.

Ok. Couple of things. That’s Jack Nicholson. He’s not doing the correct hand gestures. It should basically be the peace sign on both hands in either direction. This movie was made in the late 70s released in 1980. Jack was clearly dancing in this photo 🕺🏻
