Ein Urteil des Obersten Gerichtshofs, das Trumps Zölle streicht, wäre der schnellste Weg, den stagnierenden Arbeitsmarkt wiederzubeleben, sagt ein Spitzenökonom

I believe so.. each depression has been caused by a tariff administration proceeding it.
You mean tariffs are bad? No way. Color me not shocked.
It’s true. But a lot of people that would normally claim that tax cuts don’t create create jobs won’t see their cognitive dissonance here
Because the Tariffs started the fall in the first place.
in a normal world
Gotta love these articles with a title „A Supreme Court..“ or „If Congress..“. Staaahp! These are the same people overturning Laws to get Pedo Don in Office.
In that case the people on the side of the top economist better get their bids in! To the supreme court money and gifts are how rulings are decided.
SCOTUS doesn’t have enough balls to defy their orange idiot.
Living proof that the only „Wall“ Trump built was one around our economy. Bring on that tariff takedown.
Sure except trump has already said theyll use other ways to implement them, whether or not he actually can is one thing but on the bright side it would distract him from trying to take over other countries for awhile hahaha
Acutally, it’s too late and the damage is done. Those jobs aren’t coming back.
He would have to refund all the tariffs collected? He spent it all already and grifted it away
Yes and it would also be the correct one Constitutionally. Everyone knows this.
Nah, lowering interest rates so poor people can spend more money they dont have to quickly, but temporarily prop up the numbers is better. Bonus when they raise interest rates again after tons of people have accumulated more debt.
And when they do, he’ll claim he’s responsible for fixing the economy.
What’s especially frustrating about the government’s continued efforts to downplay the damage of Trump’s failed policies, is the fact that the economy was rebounding when he entered office.
This was the *second* time that Trump inherited a growing and recovering economy, immediately took credit for it, then managed to fuck it all up in due time.
A financial crisis emerged towards the end of the last two Republican administrations, and in the aftermath, a Democrat was voted in to oversee an economic recovery.
Instead of addressing urgent economic issues during these periods of financial instability, Republicans chose to ramp up their culture wars, obstruct legislative efforts led by Democrats at all costs, and play partisan blame games.
In other words, Republicans made the choice to divide Americans during these economic crises.
Nevertheless, Barack Obama still guided the country through a recovery after the subprime mortgage lending crisis that was partly triggered by conservative deregulatory policies over the years.
By the end of Obama’s last term, the economy was expanding, and after inheriting this economy, Trump took credit for all the positive economic trends that carried over into his administration.
Trump indeed inherited a growing economy when he first stepped into office, but when he left the White House in 2021, he also left the country with an economy in tatters.
Following Trump’s tumultuous exit from office, a Democrat was once again elected and forced to contend with yet another economic disaster that preceded them.
During this time, Republicans did what they always do: they escalated their culture wars and blamed the Democratic president for every conceivable economic problem that arose due to a global pandemic and the unavoidable financial crisis that followed; ignoring all of the contingent factors that contributed to it.
Under the Biden administration, the US saw one of the fastest and strongest economic recoveries around the world, and so much so that it became the envy of other nations.
But Trump said the word „groceries“ on the campaign trail over and over again like he had never even heard the term before; convincing enough low informed voters that he could fix everything on „day one;“ and managing to win on such a disingenuous message while once again inheriting a growing and recovering economy.
All he had to do was sit on his hands and let the economy rebound on its own, but instead, he somehow managed to shock the market and destabilize global trade within his first 100 days in office owing to his own decisions.
This was largely due to his disastrous, unilateral tariffs, his kleptocratic policies, his utter disregard for Americans‘ economic concerns, his penchant for starting trade wars, and his insistence on escalating economic and diplomatic tensions between the US, its allies, its trade partners and foreign competitors.
The truth of the matter is, if anyone else was elected, the economy would be much more stable right now.
Well this economist disagrees.
Ironically his approval rating may go up because of the defeat of his tariffs
Make Howie happy for sure!!
The problem is the US is in a bit of a bind here, they aggressively lowered normal taxation, and then didn’t reduce spending, and used the Tariffs as a way to mitigate he gap.
If the courts say the goverment has to pay it back the deficit could have hit around 2 Trillion Dollars, or 6% of GDP yearly agaisnt a current debt burden of 121%, which means the US is essentially aggressively stimulus spending when its not in a crisis, the US being the US is likely to be heavily resistant to being called on its shit by the bond market but that is still a hell of a lot of debt.
If there is a large crisis like COVID or 2008 or the AI bubble popping, then its hard to see how the US wouldn’t be in real trouble.
unfortunately, they would be doing him a supreme favor if they get rid of the tariffs
He could just ignore the court and keep the Tarrifs, or use some other reason to keep them in place
Not just in the US by the way
No one’s declaring tariffs are illegal. The moneys been dispersed and it would further bankrupt the treasury.
So of course the Supreme Court would rather focus on trans athletes…
This administration said they would use other laws to justify. They will drag this out until Trump reverses policy.
but that would help US citizens. Impossible
And buffoon orange dictator will take credit for it too
Even if the Supreme Court somehow rules against Trump, something tells me that all the illegal wars and the unrest at home will keep the job market doing poorly.
Out of curiosity, is there an app or something that allows for bets on SCOTUS rulings? This one could be a toss up. Although at the initial hearing, most justices sounded skeptical of the tariffs legality. They equated it to taxing American, which only Congress has the authority to do.
cool, but can we get back to reality?
Even if Tariffs were shut down, companies will just take the extra profit and will NOT lower prices on their goods.
Removing Trump would be the fastest way to fix the country.
100%
The Supreme Court playing coy with this ruling like they aren’t delaying so they can tally up the bribes and favors this is going to cost the Trump administration on the back end. It’ll pass in Trump’s favor and then they’ll all go to Disney World snuggled in the back pocket of their billionaire sponsors.
You honestly think this regime would listen to the Supreme Court at this point? And it’s very unlikely they will even rule against him since several of these justices have been bought and paid for.
No shit lmfao. Thanks Fortune!
