With my eyes. 👀
A rather stupid poster promoting an actually smart idea.
Tyres have a manufacturing date? Yes. And expiry age? Well, nobody bothers to write that on tyres. Tell me some tips maybe, instead of just saying „check the date“ without specifying what and how I should actually check.
I saw some discussions about how often tyres should be replaced, but with no definite answer. Kind of expected, as it depends heavily on the conditions. For Cyprus specifically, whether the car stays out in the sun or in a covered parking most of the time.
So the only thing I actually do is to rotate tyres every 10-20 thousand km, check the protector depth and look for cracks caused by the sun.
If you replace tyres twice as often, you will be able to produce twice more sales for tyres company and twice as much garbage!
Win-win situation!
Surprised you don’t even mention tyre pressure. That’s much more important than tyres that are a little older than the „expiry“ date. You need to know that those safety limits are set by manufacturers and oversight bodies with a several hours 150+km/h speed drive on German highways in mind. This won’t happen in Cyprus; if you keep the speed limit you’ll have much less stress on your tyres. And also in Cyprus you rarely drive long distances.
I change them usually every 2-3 years , even if they are not in bad condition! I also check the manufacturer date before installing them! I hope this helps! Forgot to mention that I don’t do long rides , mostly in the city!
