Maybe if they want to protect their border, they should do it from their side.
If it keeps America safe, Canada should oppose it. Their security is their problem, and any threat is probably their creation anyway.
The program would work if we could trust each other, but we can’t at present, so granting American law enforcement any authority in Canada is not feasible.
If you don’t have to, just don’t go. Is it worth the hassle to get fleeced in Vegas or melanoma in Miami?
Before I started traveling, I learned that American border guards where posted in Canadian airports and it blew my mind. I never felt comfortable to the idea we let foreign border guards into Canada to do their border work. And whats crazy is to even dare such a request to have our border guards in American airports would be a political scandel in America.
Preclearance is also critical for cross-border travel because it allows flights from Canada to arrive at domestic airports where passengers can disembark and collect their luggage without going through immigration and customs. No more preclearance makes cross-border travel a HELL of a lot more annoying.
We need to build a wall along the border, and make the Americans pay for it. Not make it easier for Canadian bootlickers to travel to that fascist shithole.

The only reason I continue to be okay with this is because it provides some protection to Canadians who, for whatever reason, continue to cross into the US. US border guards operating on Canadian soil are bound by Canadian legal protections as well as the practical consequences of the fact that they are operating in Canada.
If you are forced to deal with US Border Patrol officers once you’re already in the US, you have no Canadian protection.
