I’d really like to know the source and what counts, I’ve never heard of a single shooting in Italy, 32 seem quite a big number to miss…

  2. Italy had WWII unexploded bombs exploding into schools, bombs exploded outside schools, people bringing their guns to school to show them to friend and even a plane crashing into a school but there have never been actual school shotings except for the homicide of Marta Russo in 1997 which however was a single homicide not an attack to the school itself

  3. This is not defending the US in any way, but any attack in a school should be counted – The weapon shouldn’t matter and places with fewer guns naturally will have fewer school shootings.

  4. I like how the US total is shoehorned in despite not being relevant in a map about European counties

  5. I checked for France, you have incidents outside school, terrorist attacks or no shooting at all. 17 is absolutely WTF.

What the fuck is going on in Italy? Although a small number in the world average, still quite a lot.

  7. What about school stabbings though? Because if you were an American who loves guns then you’ll know a knife is so much more dangerous than a gun

USA „only“ 2980?I thought there were so many within 20 years and not for 59 years

In K12 schools in 2025 alone, there were about 230

Note that both Finland and Switzerland have lenient gun laws.

The argument of „it’s not the gun it’s the person holding the gun“ is kind of true, however all that shows is that the US society is not mature and responsible enough to have such lenient gun laws. So it’s kind of a meaningless argument.

This information isn’t accurate. 15 for England? There was one in 1988. A former people shot and wounded 2 teachers. The previous one before that was in 1911.

The whole of the uk only has 3 in that time frame.

I think the numbers are counting mass shootings outside of schools too.

The US total includes any death that occurs within like 500 feet of a school, a ton of it is attributable to gang violence

The data used is very broad on its definition of a school shooting. Of the three incidents in England since 2000, one was an accidental discharge at a university clay pigeon club and one was an incident that happened in a private home that happened to be on school grounds. Tragic and unfortunate, but quite far from what comes to mind when most of us think of a „school shooting incident.“
