      ICE are Immigration Enforcement.

      They are not Law Enforcement.

      They need to be reminded of this and banned from actions outside of US boarders or in circumstances where they have a legal court order to detain an individual.

      Letting them rove our streets is unacceptable and it needs to be addressed one way or another.

      I want a box on my taxes saying if you want to opt in or out of ICE funding. Opt out and you get more money back, let the magas pay extra.

      Trump is using ICE as a way to give money to his friends. Immediately when trump was sworn in, he reversed the biden order against private for-profit federal prisons. Then trump gave contracts to his friends to „run“ all the prisons and detention centers at a huge markup but their payments are based on headcounts. The more people they have in jail the more they make from our tax dollars.

      They are arresting legals and US citizens and holding them for 3 to 4 weeks minimum before letting them out so they can claim money for the headcount. They are doing this because they cant find enough illegals to get rich off of. It is a huge fraud scam.

      If there’s a need for a do,Eaton immigration enforcement then it should be considerably smaller and only enter a situation when the local police call them over a potential immigration issue. Not a poorly trained poorly vetted band of racist rednecks with guns and a drive to kill everyday people.

      Any politician that runs for president going forward that doesn’t run on the plan of completely dismantling ICE and scattering it to the wind, rounding up and locking up every single person involved as a bare minimum, and actually having the spine to do these Nuremberg trials everyone is talking about then they simply doesn’t have what it takes. This isn’t an opinion anymore. We have to stop just talking about how bad this is and actually have a plan to fight it beyond „VOTE VOTE VOTE!“

      Let’s be so real about this from an objective, unemotional perspective:

      The agency itself is actually worthless for its intended purpose. DHS agencies have always had a quality control problem though; its not just ICE but also TSA and CBP (Border Patrol).

      We’ve known for decades that the agents in ICE and CBP were undertrained, often underqualified, frequently reckless, and in the case of both, outright rogue agencies since at least the 2010s.

      By all metrics, the DHS has completely failed as a department of the executive branch when every single agency under its purview essentially does not function in the way its intended to do so under the letter of the law, and that was *before* Trump corrupted the system to where it is now, where ICE is acting as a domestic policing agency (legally speaking, it isn’t and its agents do not have police powers, on paper).

      On ICE specifically …. would they be able to do their job effectively to the letter of the law once Trump is removed? I do not think so. I think the gross incompetence, lack of training, open defiance to chain of command (which was already present before Trump), wanton reckless and open hostility to the public all contribute to a reality that ICE does not serve the American public, but its own self interest as an organization.

      In other words, as was already the case back in the 2010s, ICE is a rogue agency, and the only cure for such a problem is its total disbandment and replacement, in conjunction with a deep review of all actions taken by employees currently in the employment of ICE for possible misconduct, with actions up to and including criminal penalties being applied where appropriate.

      Literally, that’s what has to happen as soon as it is possible to do so.

      There are absolutely people who want to fund this with their taxes. There are those who would gladly pay extra for more brutality, kidnappings, destruction and street executions. Never underestimate the power of hatred and its ability to harden the heart and steel the mind to savagery. Do not, again, minimize the influence of unregulated media and purposefully misleading information presented by leaders and unqualified and/or unethical ‘experts.’

      Thanks to the supreme court, ICE is now able to arrest and detain anyone, including US citizens, based solely on the color of their skin.

      ICE didn’t have these powers in the past and it is the reason that ICE is now a paramilitary force.

      These powers need to be removed from ICE by congress. Democrats need to campaign on putting limits on ICE in 2026. But I think there is a risk that Democrats could be labeled as wanting to abolish immigration enforcement so they need to be careful.

      If you are in a Democratic state call your Senators and say two things:

      1. Your continued support for Chuck Schumer has not gone unnoticed, and every day he remains majority speaker you are consenting to the actions of the Trump Administration by your inactivity. Playing tricks where 8 random senators who aren’t up for election vote in favor of MAGA CR’s isn’t fooling anyone.

      2. You must vote for a new majority leader. Either Senator Murphy or Senator Van Hollen will do.

      Everybody needs to be coming down hard on their representatives. We will never get out of this unless we hold Trump, ICE, and this entire administration accountable. Chuck Schumer and Brian Schatz and the rest of Democratic leadership will never hold them accountable.
