      If there’s one thing all of us in every part of the world can agree on in these polarized times, it’s that even if Trump does invade Greenland and attempt a hostile takeover, he will still have a micro penis.

      I honestly wonder if Denmark could just offer the northern coast for a price of 50 billion where nobody lives. It might make Trump bite but Congress would buck him so nothing would happen. The man is just obsessed with expanding the territory for some weird reason and I worry he will try to take it all.

      Sometimes I wonder if this is just a decoy for Putin. There was news that Russia has sent about 350k troops to the Polish borders. Now Germany, Britain and Denmark talk about deploying troops to Greenland. Strange times. If Russia and USA start invading 2 EU countries at the same time, EU will not stand a chance

      Trump trying to get the EU to move troops so Russia can get in there? Russia has got to be a little crippled after years of war with the Ukraine, though.

      Or is Trump and his admin just this stupid, do they really think American citizens are going to fight his wars for him?

      Seems like nobody read the article. These troops are to “defend Greenland from China and Russia” to appease Trump’s concerns. Not to defend from a US invasion.

      Question:

      Why do France, UK, etc, just keep saying they’re talking about it instead of just doing it?

      Surely they have troops than can deploy anywhere on 24 hours notice.

      I’d think they’d want to get them there right away, and then back fill any paperwork or whatever later.

      One of the biggest problems of this time is various world leaders or politicians telling Donald Trump and his ilk *“if you do this, we’ll have to respond“*, and then when Trump invariably crosses the line, they fold like a lawn chair and don’t follow through. And this is why Trump is getting away with everything – because no one with a modicum of power to stop him is willing to do so.

      Governor Walz putting the National Guard on standby? Don’t threaten. Act.

      Same applies here. Do not assume that talks or leaking about said talks is going to deter him. Get those boots on the ground and call his bluff.

      Why is no one discussing that there are already military bases in Greenland that we are allowed to use as long as we don’t fuck up our alliance with NATO?

      That on the global scale Greenland is right next to the USA and responding to aggression from a non NATO country would be easy.

      Russia and China are do not have the military might to project and hold power that far away from their homeland. They would see their entire military and logistical support destroyed within a month and would be knocked back the Stone Age.

      Say the whole BRICS movement makes this their only goal and attacks together. NATO would still win as America would handle the main military forces in the Atlantic/Arctic ocean and Greenland sea while NATO allies bomb and disrupt supply lines.

      It would be a bloody conflict in the second scenario but there is importance in not being the aggressor during global conflicts.

      The UK is one of the rare European countries whose actions and words Trump actually takes seriously. If I’m not mistaken, it was largely thanks to the UK’s influence that Trump stopped treating Zelensky like shit. Europe can’t wait for Trump’s term to end, but if JD Vance wins in 2028, things could get even worse.
