These Barbarian Greek invaders came from the West and destroyed the Hittite-Luwian heritage. They imposed their gods to locals, and took slaves.

I didn’t know there’s a city in Turkey named Philadelphia. Before Philly even existed in America seems like in world history class in my country the United States seem to skip over some details of ancient history that there are some cities in the US named after those ancient cities in the Middle East and Europe.

How accurate is this?
I don’t mean to start a discussion, but I’m having trouble believing Priapos – a literal Greek god’s name – isn’t etymologically Greek…

Greek or Hellenic? Aren’t they two different concepts? This region has been home to many indigenous peoples, from the Lydians to the Trojans. None of them are here. And those cities referred to as Greek are actually Roman cities. That’s why he put Hellenic in parentheses.
In short, a propaganda map with no historical value.

Specially that show almost all Ionia region non Greek is pathetic!
**Phokaia** was Greek colony created by Phocis(Iones),who come from central Greece(near to Delphi) in Iron Age Greek migrations 11th-9th cen BC.
buld in 8th cen BC and the word diyma means „twins“ in Greek and named from the 2 huge temples of Apollo and Artemis.
**Pergamon** Greek city 8th cen BC and the name refers to „tower“ or „fortress“, suggesting the fortified nature because the city bulded in a hill up 300m
**Magnesia** a Greek colony founded 10th cent BC and take the name of the setlers [Magnetes](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magnetes) , a Greek tribe who lived near in Thessaly(Greece) and today the region called Magnesia.
The etymology of Smyrna (present-day Izmir) is linked to mythology and botany, as it derives either from the mythical eponymous heroine Smyrna (or Myrrh) who was transformed into a myrrh tree (myrrh).
**Aigai (Aigai Aeolis)** was founded by Greeks from Magnesia, Thessaly, in the 8th century BC. It was one of the 12 cities founded by the Aeolians.
The Etymology come from „Aiga“ (goat): Aiga (cities, regions) may have taken their name either because of the presence of goats in these places, or because of their connection with mythological figures such as Pan, the god of goatherds, who had characteristics of a semi-wild animal.
