Georgianisches Haus, erbaut um 1780. Die einzige kostengünstige Möglichkeit zum Heizen ist die Verwendung eines Strohballens in einem speziell angefertigten Heizkessel.
I live in a refurbed 1770 house, and it’s taken a fair bit of insulation to make it cosy. So I can appreciate the difficulty.

A bale of straw is about 25 euro to buy though. That’s madness

Must have to change the bail every 30 min or so as they can burn quick.

And it burned all the way through the winter.

So the bail heats up the water tank that is above or nearby, the steam or hot water is distributed through central heating pipes?
That’s my guess and I saw it in rural Latvia years ago.

How long does a bail of straw last?

This is an outdated method for heating large houses. Its basically a stove with a large water tank around it. Water gets heated and a circulation pump circulates it through the heating system of the house. Not very efficient at all. Most people who go down this route nowadays use a gasification boiler with an insulated buffer tank. its up to 92% efficient and an excellent choice for anyone with significant timber on their land.
