Scottish, English and Ulster Scots almost certainly all very underreported while German and Irish almost certainly very over reported.

Same every time this map comes up.

Nope. There is a zero percent change that German is the most common European ancestry in Sandoval, Santa Fe, Bernalillo, Torrence and Valencia counties in NM. That’s the literal heart of Spanish colonialism in the state and I don’t buy it at all.

One of the most under-reported group are the French Canadians of New England. I went to high school in NH and like Simoneau was the most common last name in my grade. And while they are only tops in some northern counties, there are plenty in the Boston Metro area as well.

    4. How can you even be sure about that ? We’re talking millions of people after hundreds of years and many generations.

There is absolutely no possible way that Philadelphia county is more Irish than Italian

    6. Buffalo and Chicago are predominantly Polish? Is there a reason for that? Also interesting that those are two of the coldest snowiest cities.

Does that make Chicago style pizza a hate crime againist Italian.

    7. US History in colors. The ones with Great Britain ancestors stay in the cotton farm land beside this Mormon diaspora to the west. French and Spanish mostly in former colonies and the Germans had to cultivate the frontier left over.

    8. That is why the US is so successful. This is currently changing due to unfavorable immigration. This can be seen in IQ results or NAEP scores in California, for example, where there is an alarming decline due to immigration from Latin America, where people do not have a high IQ (which is 80% genetically inherited), unlike in Germany or England.

    9. You can’t tell me there’s 0 reported Swedes or Norwegians in WI. I call bullshit.

    10. Always take these with a grain salt. If someone has 3 British grandparents and one German grandparent they will almost always say they are German because it sounds more spicy.

Tho here is an interesting fact (still take it with a grain a salt). The two most powerful cities in the Americas New York and São Paulo both have Italian pluralities.

Outside of Germans, ukster scotts, and english most americans are minorities.

    12. All this to they look at your face and say „Go back to your country“ (We came from the same place apparently)

Does anybody else find it interesting that the Norwegians, Swedes, and Finish settled, in their most prominent places, in the same orientation to each other as their home countries?

So Portuguese is apparently the most common European ancestry in the Fresno area.

Is this visible in daily life? Do you see lots of Portuguese-language billboards and signage like you see with Spanish in southern California? Are ballots translated to Portuguese?

I didn’t realize there was such a large Portuguese population in the Great Lakes!

    16. I mean, I’m not sure, but I think California isn’t even majority white, so the idea that the biggest ancestry in California is German doesn’t make any sense to begin with.

I’m 90% sure in PA Lackawanna County should be Irish and Luzerne County should be Polish.
