WNO/Kennedy Center was my artistic home for over a decade. WNO actually did operate separately from the Kennedy Center for years, but merged in 2011.
I am so sad for my friends who work there. The KenCen is the largest arts center in DC. Its going to be difficult to find a permanent home, and even temp spaces are going to be challenging.
They are going to have to cut down the amount of performances, and steam back costs significantly. This means less opportunity for the amazing performers and creative staff. The Opera House Orchestra is still tied to the KenCen, so they have lost a major portion of their work as well.
Ultimately this was the right decision, but the cost of it all.
It just sucks so much.

IF we get a Democrat president I need one of the first things they do, on Inauguration Day, is to march down to that building and have that man’s name removed from the facade.

This makes me so happy! I used to sing for the WNO and I’m proud that they are taking a stand against facism!

Fantastic. Well… sad, but I applaud them. Anything he’s involved isn’t decent society. He’s a stain on the nation’s history… and we have many. Only thing he is good at. Rivalry our worst.
