Oh yea russian „elections“ where they decide that Putin and his oligarchs will continue to steal everything they can and spread misery.

This is missing the Netherlands, they have municipal elections in march

    4. Here’s to hoping that we’ll also get our parliamentary elections in Serbia this year.

    5. In France the general population will only be voting in the municipal election in 2026, in which you vote for the mayor of the commune (city, town or village) you live in. We’ll be voting in the municipal elections in March 2026.

In September 2026, half of the senate will be renewed through the vote of mayors and départements representatives. They’re elected for 6 years and the other half of the senate will be renewed in 2029.

(I had to look up all of this because as most french people probably, I had no idea how the Senate is actually elected)

    6. For France, the most important election this year is the municipal election in march to elect new mayors for all cities and villages in France. The outcome of this election will likely tell us what’s going to happen in the senate election.

Moldovan breakaway republic Transnistria will also hold presidential elections in 2026.

    8. Elections in russia.

      ahahaha, nice joke.

Kudos for having a correct map border though!

Here is hoping Danes can elect government that doesn’t use 1984 as instruction manual. If they kept it to their country that would be one thing, but trying to force it on entire EU is not very nice.

    10. Beware of both American and Russian fuckery with these elections. Their intelligence agencies are no joke, and especially the American one is deeply entrenched in Europe

What is a „general“ election in parliamentary countries like Sweden and Denmark?

Map is missing German states, which may be the most consequential this year, because there is one state where the AfD has a (still long but its best) shot of attaining majority: Sachsen-Anhalt.

„Scotland and Wales are not considered internal unities of the UK“, so they are sovereign states??

Why include Scotland and Wales but not the autonomous regions of Spain or Germany having elections?

In Russia there will be elections into the lower palace of the parliament, the legislative branch. Why the distinction for „parliamentary“, „senate“ and „legislative“?

In France the “municipales” where mayors all around France are elected will be *by far* the most important election in decades considering how fragmented we are right now.

The municipalities results will determine who is elected for the Senate

Estonia doesn’t have presidential election — only parlament ones — parlament votes for president.

    18. In Czechia it’s actually elections to the municipal governments. One third of the country will also vote for their senators in those elections.

Our senators hold their seat for 6 years, but not the whole senate is elected at once, instead it’s a third every 2 years. For cost saving, the senate elections are always pinned to other elections, like the municipal ones in this case.

But as the map doesn’t show municipal elections… it’s obviously not there.

    19. Yo guys, bulgaria is clearly the most democratic here, not only are they holding TWO ✌️ elections, but they also hold one of them every year because no one could make a working government. 🫨

We also have several state Elections in Germany this Year which are very important since it seems our far-right Party will win all of them which would be very bad for the establishment

    21. There might be Dutch elections again, too, since we’re now even worse than Italy when it comes to governments collapsing. These days, our governments fall faster than you can say „elections“.
