This is the case in Scotland but after every driver bitched and moaned they stopped enforcing it within a week or two. So now everyone is parking on the pavement again.
Cue “there’s not enough space on the roads” in a few weeks.
The example photo in the article is obviously a problem parked car, but there been plenty of schemes that allow part-pavement parking to help both issues like the example and not enough space to fully park on the roads
This is a real problem if you’re disabled and can’t get past one of several unnecessarily large £40k+ SUVs blocking their path. If the powers only amount to a £100 fine if spotted, that’s good enough for me. Brush their coachwork with that £10 wing mirror attached to you scooter too
My local council would run out of penalty charge envelopes.
The problem is too many cars for small terraced streets. I had a neighbour once who had 6 cars parked on the street for his household. Its crazy. I would say you should not be allowed to own more cars than you have parking spaces. If you have no driveway, 1 car per house.
Improve public transport in places outside big cities and actually enforce the existing laws. I’ve seen cars fully parked on pavements, ie all 4 wheels on the pavement, and nothing is done.
If cars were towed away rather than being given a fine I reckon people would start parking more considerately. It’s crazy trying to get a pram down some streets and I imagine it’s difficult for wheelchairs and mobility scooter etc too.
