Important note: While the large majority of „Turkish“ population is ethnically Turkish, a significant number of other Muslim demographics were also counted as „Turkish“

      What does Vilayet exactly mean?

In Marathi(an Indian language), Vilayet and Vilayeti were words used for Turkey and Turks respectively in the 18th century. Nowadays, both words are almost dead and used only by a few people to denote any non-Indian person or object.

Edit : Just remembered that Breadfruit is still commonly called Vilayeti Phanas which translates to Turkish Jackfruit.

    3. Does the Jews category include the crypto Jews or are they in the Turks category. The most famous crypto Jewish Turk of course was Ataturk.

    4. It’s good to point out that the greeks and bulgarians were actually not ethnicity, it was only the people that belong to those churches.

What’s up with this sub lately? Lots of Turkish trolls posting maps related to Greece followed by anti-Greek propaganda comments.

Edit: Lol the comment had at first 10 upvotes, now -5. It’s obvious what’s happening.
