  1. R. Moldova celebrates both new and old calendar. Those who attend the romanian orthodox church celebrate on Decembre 25, those who attend the russian orthodox church celebrate on January 7.

That’s only the religious Christmas in church. The normal „Christmas“ celebration is at the New Year

  3. Sad how politicized this has become in many countries because of Russia.

The quirky nature of some people celebrating in December and others in January has become a political stance.

I think these are countries with ‘official’ public holidays for Christmas on 7th Jan, many people in other countries unofficially celebrate

yes today is a public holiday, although here the celebrations aren’t really as visible like in other countries [Egypt].

eitherways im enjoying the day off so happy christmas everyone

  6. In Kazakhstan its mostly only russians and Ukrainians who celebrate it, (most) Kazakhs don’t

I find it infuriating since Christmas literally has a realworld, natural and astronomic basis which is the winter solstice, the turn when „Sun King“ comes back, Sun begins to return and days are literally actually for a fact becoming longer. This is ignored due to who knows what, I find it such a travesty since it’s a once in a year (excluding summer solstice which nobody notices anyhow) opportunity for whole world to unite in celebration of a NON-abstract event of utmost significance, having roots in those ancient cultures and civilizations which literally built all those architectural marvels we find awesome and puzzling to this day.
