Nachdem Artilleriefeuer den Abschnitt dazu zwingt, in Deckung zu gehen, wird ein Pionier getroffen und bleibt liegen. Sein Kumpel überprüft ihn kurz, bevor ein anderer Ingenieur einspringt, um ihn zu ersetzen, und die Minenräumung unter Beschuss fortgesetzt wird.

I take it they didn’t typically blow up if you poked them?
Is it really worthwhile wearing long socks in the desert? In many combat photos they seem to roll them down rather than keep them pulled up.
Looks insane at first but my guess is they were certain there were no AP mines and were only checking for AT mines that wouldn’t be set off with this approach.
A far cry from the modern battlefields in Ukraine and Russia where millions of all sorts of mines cover the landscape and can be deployed in every imaginable way.

Was a CE and mineprodding was the most mind numbing thing ive done in all of my time and thank God it couldnt have been more than 4.5hrs exercise in total. One reason why I got out of the infantry and into bridging.
