  1. Netto. Bruto means nothing and is different for every family situation. I just watched this episode. I don’t understand how you can struggle financially with €7k/month. They’re so dumb with money… with €7k I’d pay €2.500 for the house, elec, gas,… Invest €1.500. Then you still have €3.000 for food, hobby’s, vacation,…

I’ve stopped watching after 3 episodes. Its everytime the same. Too expensive house with a too expensive car, which takes all the budget for everything else. And then they’re going to try to save with the little pieces left.

And how do they earn so much? What are their jobs? They look pretty young to earn so much money?

I feel insulted when people with that amount of income can’t seem to make ends meet. Jesus.

So she got a burnout from being a kindergarten teacher and not from running around those kids to their 25 hobbies? And you can stay at home 2 years for that? Belgium! What a country!

  8. Few episodes ago they had a couple where the guy worked two jobs. She spends over 1000€ a month on going out to dinner with friends, having coffee with friends, beauty salon,… You get the picture. All while they also spend a few 100€ a month on takeaway.

I felt so bad for the guy, he worked his ass off and when he got home there was not even a meal prepared and on the table.
They had no kids so my immediate reaction was: what the fuck is she doing with her free time?

My gf would just kick me out if I was doing what she was doing. And rightfully so.

Me and my wife have a combined income of +- 8500 euro (net). We have many friends who earn the same and know some struggle. Many people can simply not handle money well. Give them 2k a month , they struggle. Give them 4k a month , they still struggle.

Many people spend more when they earn more. We live fairly royal and use 5k /month (avg) and save 3.5k without any issues.

Disappointing that cutting out 1 of their 3 kids wasn’t put on the table as an expense saving mechanism.

  11. It’s pretty well known that they tried this format with average families, earning less than 5k net. But it’s just not fun TV. People want to see rich people struggling, being stupid and humiliated rather than being confronted with how hard it can be getting around with 4k in a family of for.

It’s „gross“ and „net“ in English. Bruto and netto aren’t words in English.

At the end the woman said “we saved…. Now we can paint the whole house!!. Still not realising they first have to save for a “buffer”, but ready to spend it all again.

That amount of money is what some people need to spend in 3/4 months. How are they unable to live with it if they gain that each month?

  16. shadowlxrd17 on

That woman had 0 financial controll over herself holy shit. Couldnt even handle the fact that her husband was stressing out over the fact that the just kept spending and spending

We have 7k net together and never struggle but we don’t consider ourself super well off. We still make budget choices and can’t go super crazy. I do have 2 loans, 1 for another home.

  18. Why would you think it is bruto? Knowing your bruto income is absolutely useless when it comes to budgetting.

Common sense ontbreekt precies toch vaak.

I say, they just wanted to show they have money. They look like that kind of people.
