    1. The article was published today/ after the operation.:

      >The news Saturday that—per President Donald Trump—the US had enacted a “large scale strike against Venezuela and its leader“ reminded many that in November, White House chief of staff Susie Wiles told Vanity Fair that an ongoing campaign against Venezuela and its president, Nicolás Maduro, was focused on blowing up boats as opposed to an incursion on the country’s soil.[…]

      >Wiles admitted then that an attack on Venezuelan mainland would require congressional approval. “If he were to authorize some activity on land, then it’s war, then [we’d need] Congress.

It seems, as if she deliberately misled the public/ Congress members.
      If so: She should resign.
If not: She should resign in protest.

PS: According to the article, she told that in November. The interview was published mid December.

I’m sure they’ll waive a classified OLC rubber stamp memo as an excuse.

They all know the laws and the Constitution….they just ignore them.

What’s this “Congress” of which she speaks? It doesn’t appear to be functional anymore.

It’s just a matter of time until the entire Trump administration is tried for war crimes.

    6. This is why people are confused: Wiles made it sound like „of it’s land, it’s war and we need Congress,“ yet the U.S. just launched major strikes that arguably cross that line. Now critics are pointing out the inconsistency and calling for accountability.

    7. Dolores Umbridge lowkey giving us a warning that something illegal is gonna go down.

Agree with that perspective. Decisions this serious should involve congress so responsibility is shared, not rushed.

I’m sure she came around to their way of thinking on this over time, as she did with every other thing she claimed to disagree with them about.

Here comes the part where they say this wasn’t a military action somehow

In the United States of America, yes. That would have been correct. That *was* correct. The United States of America, or the constitution and laws that made the USA a legitimate country, don’t exist in their entirety any more. It is now “the former” United States of America.

    12. So what? Have you tried telling a grouchy toddler late for their nap “no”?

I mean, she happens to right but she is also an idiot, bad person, and has no relevant knowledge or authority. It’s like finding some random drunk hobo in an alleyway that also agrees. They’d be right too. Lots of people know this. It’s not complicated.

Apparently it doesn’t because Trump just did it without any approval and will face no consequences

    16. Oh, okay. Cool. I’m sure Congress will prevent this from happening in other countries.

They were probably only escorting US marshals who made an arrest. Just a guess

She’s just covering her ass with a written record in the highly unlikely event of consequences years down the road. She knows exactly who she made the public elect.

George HW Bush did not have congressional approval for Panama. His administration used the same pretext of drug trafficking to remove Noriega.
