    1. The rest of the world awaits the day to piss on the ashes of burned US cities.

Not a trump supporter, but it’s astonishing to see the Reddit that celebrated Venezuelan protesters and Nobel peace prize winners and universally condemned Maduro suddenly in a panic that he’s been removed.

The USA always reminds me of The Planet Of The Apes, not as homosapiens in particular.

    4. Venezuela now a puppet country and will make USA oil company richer. Wall street wins, Caracas lose.

If i was Lula i’d be shitting my pants and build a fort at that border in Roraima, holy smokes.

    6. Do I like Trump? – No.

Do I like dictators? – Less than Trump.

Reddit has gone mentally crazy. I have a feeling that if Trump had shot Hitler in 1940, Redditors would have been angry that the US was interfering in other people’s affairs, and that Hitler wasn’t so bad after all.

      You’re disgusting.

inb4 Trump is a dictator – there is a difference in a democratically elected president in a democratic country where the courts, police, army, prosecutors and other services are subject to some control and are not at the mercy of some idiot in a golden palace built at the expense of the state. You won’t face any punishment for protesting against Trump, but for protesting against Putin, Maduro or Xi you face at least prison.

    7. Right, because apparently nobody in Latin America is capable of acting in self interest. Yes, every single action opposing a left-wing government is orchestrated by the CIA.

Both the USA and the USSR were busy in proxy conflicts across the world. We’re judging the actions of the US at the height of the cold war.

Also, Grenada and Panama removed a military junta and a dictatorship. Honduras (2009) the US very quickly recognized the new government but there’s no evidence it orchestrated the coup there. Venezuela (2002), the Americans knew about the coup but they decided not to warn Chaves (because why would they??), but they didn’t orchestrate that one either.

Pinning Haiti (2004) just on the US is disingenuous. France participated in the coup as well. And no, the coup isn’t the one thing to blame on today’s Haiti. There was Aristide’s (the toppled president) who disbanded the army and created the same gangs that control Haiti today. There was also the catastrophic and useless UN interventions that just made things worse.

It’s a nice narrative „America bad“, especially popular amongst Americans who can’t imagine a world where the USA isn’t at the center of everything. The world is a bit more complex than black and white, and a Reddit post or a TikTok video aren’t good sources to understand complex geopolitical affairs.

Of course intervening in another sovereign country is one thing.

But what makes it particularly embarrassing is these interventions have a long history of *making things worse*.

And yet we keep trying them.

Maduro was illegitimate, but most of these were 100% democratically elected. It’s just they were „socialist“, so US said nah, and most often they got replaced with a right-wing Totalitarian.

It really is high-level class warfare disguised as „freedom fighting“.

Even if you’re a Trump supporter and believe he alone is capable of doing foreign regime change “the right way,” you have to realize that his part in this affair is essentially over. Every subsequent part—appointing leaders, running elections, approving funding, organizing industry—will be done by committee. And those committees will be filled with special business interests, academics trying to prove their niche theories, military and security people who believe only in violence, and future politicians looking to fill out their resumes. The process will be muddled by Venezuelans seeking an established place in the new pecking order and unused to the kind of liberal society they’re now expected to lead. It’s going to be a mess.

Yes, but can you please also make a map of Africa and what has been going on there in the last 20 years?

    13. I wonder why they never teach us this in US grade school of all the counties the US has attacked or intervene.
