      Absolute nonsense poll. No-one has any idea of the terms of any re-entry.

      And every poll turns out to reflect real life, what next the clouds are fluffier over the Europe since Britain left the EU. Same old rubbish.

      Some what misleading article, although France and Italy had less people wanting to be part of the EU they also had less people who wanted the leave the EU. I’m guessing that means that France and Italy just have a general indifference to being in the EU or more pressing things to worry about.

      Who cares? It’s all very theoretical right now. Reform are leading the polls for goodness sake. This Labour govt is going, at very best, to be severely damaged at the next election i.e. losing a lot of seats. Reform will almost certainly make significant gains, even if not enough to form a govt… Joining the EU? Seriously? 😂 The EU would only want the UK back in if we were utterly changed as a society i.e. Labour dominant in power with 40% plus support. An official Opposition that also supported rejoining. As long as the main opposition in the UK is opposed to joining the EU, why would the EU want us back? Let’s remember there used to be a cross party consensus that supported membership. Now that’s gone, that’s a dramatic change.

      Isn’t it kind of obvious now that brexit was about destabilising the EU, and a possible way for the US/Billionaires to get into Europe for resources, power, trade etc? Question is was Farage and Johnson etc in it knowingly or just swept along for their own agendas? We’ve all been played – with global instability on the rise, are we better aligned with Europe and the EU or outside it?

      Your reminder that the Independent is about as neutral on this topic as GB News, and anything it publishes regarding the EU is deeply suspect. They’re basically a pro-EU pressure group and everything they write should be read in that light.

      I’d be keen for rejoining and a more United Europe.

      It will be the only way to be a significant enough player in this new world to be able to compete with china and the USA.

      Otherwise I fear divided we may all fall into insignificance or worse.

      Lots of people want to have what we had back, a seat at the top table, with our favourable terms.

      We aren’t getting that back. When the reality of what is on offer would be polled the percentages would drop.

      So those on the outside want to get in, and those on the inside want to get out.

      This is classic human behavior—we rarely recognize our own privileges and tend to idealize what we don’t have. That’s why sayings like „the grass is always greener on the other side“, or „familiarity breeds contempt“ or „Always wanting what you can’t have.“ have endured.

      It doesn’t matter what this poll says. It won’t amount to any genuine change. I’d love it if the UK was an EU country, but it won’t be during my lifetime. The other thing about polls is that just because an idea is popular, that doesn’t mean we should do something about it. If we had a referendum on reintroducing capital punishment, we’d be hanging them high pretty quickly.

      The establishment wants to be part of the EU. Do you think reform who currently hold a majority in an election would want to be part of the EU?

      Why are we always thrown at us establishment propaganda ?

      Why would the EU be interested in what the UK thinks?

      It looks like economic desperation from the UK which means we will be taken advantage of which I know those British voters will not question since their main motivation is just economic and nothing else.

      There is nothing tangible about us being in the EU in this current climate.

      I’d like to trade with the EU, but if that means being controlled by the unelected Ursula Von Der Leyen at the EU comission or collaborating with the convicted fraudster Christine Lagarde at the ECB I don’t want it.

      NEVER trust a YouGov poll! NEVER.

      They use a volunteer panel. The People who volunteer have set biases. These are the same people who protest or glue themselves to the road.

      The 2015 UK General Election was a massive error by YouGov who significantly overestimated the Labour party’s support and underestimated the Conservative majority.

      Let’s see how British voters feel about re-joining the EU when France’s economy collapses and the EU members all have to club together for the mother of all bailouts.
