A lot of signs are pointing the Gemini coming out as the AI winner. Hard to compete against a company that has unlimited funds and all the information in the world at their disposal for training.

Here we are though with a tiny fraction of the population insisting the world has to have a thing that that people do not want.
And naturally, all the benefit is to that tiny fraction.
Personally, I’m going to continue having no part in knowingly utilzing AI.

It almost feels like you should wait to see Microsoft’s move then not do that one.
I don’t know a single person in real life that uses AI for anything other than making shitty photos of themselves for Christmas. I think that’s ultimately all AI will be used for and the second people have to start paying for that, the second it all dies off. It won’t be a moment too soon.

Hope everyone realizes that using chatgpt is fcking everything up, from AI slop in social media, to brain rot, to deep fakes used to manipulate people, to higher energy prices, and higher computer parts prices. Stop using that shit.

Google is a horrible company run by a scumbag. Google allows criminals to run ads that scam people on YouTube. They are all AI generated fake products and worse, fake miracle cures for things like dementia. Google is mind fucking the elderly for money and ripping them off. Google is a criminal enterprise. They should be broken up and charged with attacking civilization.
No direction at all, at lease Anthropic main target is developers.
Everyone should be aware that they are the *sole reason* for the spike in memory prices and knock-on effects on laptops/phones/everything electronic, and you should avoid them for that reason alone. It’s an egregious anti-competitive practice which affects the entire global economy.
Honestly, I think OpenAI will be fine. The market is large enough.
OpenAI’s biggest weakness is that they don’t have a phone. Google will put personal agents into everyones‘ hands. Remember that demo a few years ago where Google was booking appointments for you? Google is about to get 2% of every transaction facilitated on the phone.

Hate OpenAI but I find it vastly superior at least for image gen over Gemini for now. Both still suck in many ways, but I find it easier to get what I want from it (though it’s never sustainable, the work degrades so quickly if you iterate).
I do hope that bubble burst sooner rather than later. The later it happen, the worse it’s goong to be.

Good summary. When ChatGPT came out, I was amazed by LLM’s capabilities. However, I’m starting to not be as impressed. For example, when it comes to helping with creative writing, it produces pretty good ideas and structure. But I haven’t been able to prompt it in such a way where can match my style or vision. Where I can soundly outperform it.
I think it gets a lot of stuff right but not everything right.
OpenAI for Countries.
OpenAI for AI-human relationships.
OpenAI for explicit/NSFW content.
ChatGPT is not the product.
People are.
There is no end for a company that has a trove of data on its users before anyone ever thought about AI safety and ethics.
More prognostication. I wish people would speculate less and admit we collectively don’t have a good idea of where AI technology is going, and which major players would adapt in which ways.
OpenAI will likely end up being bought out by Microsoft or Apple. Everyone seems to forget Apple basically has the Death Star of financial resources which it will eventually use on “affordable” ai acquisitions
So weird how OpenAI went from the Goliath in the field to a company I don’t even take seriously anymore. I honestly don’t think it will survive this year (in its current form).

If true, then there is no better time to start doling out the cash bonuses, merit based increases, immediately fully vested options, project team rewards, goal premiums, target achieved dividends, etc,etc, while others are paying for it. All of the funding that has been voiced to have been committed needs to be collected as soon as possible and dispersed as soon as possible to end at net 0. Takes-backzies and „Too Big to Fail“ are real things after all.

Google’s web crawler and it’s AI bot crawler are one and the same. You can’t hide your content from the AI scraper without also making yourself unfindable on search.
Which is FUCKED.
But it also gives Google an insurmountable advantage in training data. You can have a better AI model in a ton of ways, but in the end, data is going to win. At least in the current landscape.
The question is going to be when we shift away from chatbot LLM things to a more natural interaction model, whether that’s voice or vision or what-have-you.
The sooner the better and we can see some normality return to the PC market ***and a lot less AI Slop***!
Mostly wishcasting they might launch a successful IPO this year. They are trying a lot of stuff since AI products are not really mature yet.
The biggest downfall for the competitors in the AI race is that LLMs are extremely trivial to swap out. They all use the same API calls, and swapping LLM providers is as simple as pointing your code to call a different URL with an API key. LLMs also charge per token, so there’s nothing tying anyone to a particular LLM provider. There’s virtually no lock-in. Especially in enterprise where most of their money is.
Co-pilot for example, all your Windows calls to it are going to Microsoft servers, which Microsoft could then reroute to any LLM they want. The end-user wouldn’t even know, and that simply switch from the provider could save them millions. That does not give you very good stability if you’re someone like OpenAI. The truth is, OpenAI is simply another end point in a highly volatile and competitive business. If their models aren’t the best, their business can go under overnight.
