      I wouldn’t be surprised if they had several ships retrofitted for drones and other weapons. Europe and Americans should be following the same path accordingly.

      This will make all Chinese merchant vessels legit targets if war breaks out. The Malacca Strait will be a big choking point.

      How is this going to work? In an actual conventional war these ships are just going to get bombed from thousands of miles away. No more drones.

      Looks like we might see mini and mega carriers, both aimed at drones. The first small and nimble like the trucks Ukraine used to launch a container full of them. The other more akin to a current carrier, maybe the mother ship for the first one. Maybe with facilities to manufacturer more drones.

      I remember maybe 20 years ago there was talk of making a new kind of navy ship, basically a capital ship but with like 500 missile launchers. I could see a similar idea for drones.

      My big question is how much „Hidden“ combat potential does the PLAN have? From my recent reading and listening, it seems like figures for predicting when a conflict will go down have been based on the balance of naval power between China and the US in a Pacific, usually rallies in number of VLS cells – if China has Cargo ships full of VLS, that changes the math – Even if the Cargo ship isn’t really a combattant vessel, if it’s able to carry and launch missile s based on targeting coming from main surface combatants and whatever the Chinese version of AEGIS is, this is a cause for concern amongst some folks, I’m sure.

      This is how World in Conflict started, Soviet cargo flotilla secretly carrying an invasion force. Really great RTS, still holds up. Interface was ahead of its time.

      It is like a temporary modification. The turret, radar cans make perfect sense. But the flatdeck trucks all lined up? That is stupid.

      But it won’t be able to launch drones. The flat deck trucks, even if locked together make zero sense for drone deployment.

      What you would do instead is just drop 40ft cans with smooth flat tops to emulate a real runway and have some open 40ft cans at the end of the runway for drone storage. That is how you would launch real drone warfare.

      Seriously , how hard would it have been to add the word integrated so that now it would read :electromagnetic aircraft integrated launch (EMAIL) Sytem.
