We have people from all walks of life here and thats something to be proud of. Ill bet those people speaking foreign languages love our country. They would do anything to honor and serve it. Why? I work every day with people from Europe and Asia who speak English as a second language. The only thing that’s ever bothered me is that I’m jealous I can’t speak a second language.

To avoid serious trauma, it’s best these people _never_ travel to a country where simplified English is not the first language.
It bothers me because I’m jealous. /s I wish I knew multiple languages. All my friends that grew up in other countries know multiple languages. I took spanish in HS, but definitely not fluent. I didn’t realize until I was an adult how American and limiting the philosophy of knowing just a single language is.

This feels like a slightly disingenuously worded question. It bothers anyone to hear a conversation they’re not included in, in the sense that it’s annoying and makes you feel excluded.
Are we supposed to react as if all those people are furious about it, or just that they wish they could be part of things? Because those are two totally different reactions iMHO..
They aren’t fans of people talking that fancy science and math talk either. Essentially any communication above about a 2nd grade level is sure to piss them off.

My parents immigrated to the US from Holland after the destruction of WW II. My mother and aunt would tell the story of when arriving in America, they would often hear „speak English or go home.“
