      The UK saw what China did to Hong Kong and couldn’t wait to implement it on their home turf as well. And of course mainland Europe is next.

      Anybody know what happened to the database of illegaly collected fingerprints that the UK police had? That they were told by a judge to delete but hadn’t. Asking for no particular reason.

      Sure it’s nice that some baddies were caught but giving up everyone’s right to privacy is a high fucking cost.

      This tech is everywhere. NEC in Japan has been the global leader in the space. I would bet they are involved here. Their success rate even with a partially obscured face, is remarkable, like 99.5%. When a data file with a full face is available, its 99.9%. Its less about the cameras and more about the software. The power comes from the data file that is used to scan. Places in the US such as casinos make the customer accept surveillance as a requirement of entry. Most major airports in the US, as well.

      For me, I want this up scanning 24/7 for every know violent criminal or suspected terrorist and the alike. I don’t believe they should track activities of citizens that don’t fit the description.
