470k spread among 8 people isnt exactly an extortionate amount.

If anything, I’d say it was the fact that he had 8 personal advisors, on top of everyone at the ministries and departments that’s the real issue

    2. ok and ?

next your gonna tell the government spends money , how the shock horror

    3. All of the lads telling him what to say and do and how to react. All non elected by the way.

I’m not sure I understand this?

The advisors work in the Department of the Taoiseach? So they are civil servants in that department? Why would they be made redundant?

    5. Around 60K each, sounds alright. But did they have to leave or did they volunteer? As I understand it, they were Civil Servants, state employees, that’s about as save a job as you can get in Ireland….

I gotta start blocking people posting this stupid shite. No substance, just bullshit headlines to cause trouble

This happens with all advisors at the end of a government as well. They are highly paid to reflect the fact that they are on contracts rather than permanent and then subject to really generous payments at the end of those contracts when they will all walk into other jobs if they want them.

Firstly, like why is anyone still tryna bring up Varadker, flogging a dead horse much.

But more importantly, while the headline aims to insinuate & wind people up about Varadkar, go read to article, they leave the very important details off the headline but put it in the actual body of text, likely to avoid getting sued by Varadkar. The headline implies something improper or plays on a narrative of implied corruption & kick backs of some sort. A propaganda narrative if ever there was one.

Why a propaganda narrative you ask? Well the body of the text say 500k for advisors & STAFF in taoiseachs office. Changing of guard between govs. & Taoiseachs are the norm, nothing crooked in that & if you have to pay redundancies & severances to multiple people in an office, the price tag goes up fairly quick.

A Taoiseach typically has 2-4 advisors & the staff is 200-250, obviously not all will change out because it was a transition to anotuer Taoiseach from same party. But like all parties, there are factons & when the next lad moves in, he’ll turf out the last guys most staunch loyalists, so 4 advisors & very very consiervatively a 10% turn over of staff after Varadkar resigned(it was very likely more) thats minimum 29 people getting severence & or redundancy packages. 500k split a minimum of 29 ways is about 17.2k a head. Thats a modest severance/redundancy.

The articles title implies just advisors & if 4 lads got that, then sure, raised eye brows & questions to be asked. But when you actually stop to think critically & assess the most pesimistic assessment based rationally on the info in the article & it quickly shows the article is misleading & intended to shape preceptions not report facts on a situation.

When did it become criminal for a company or entity to properly & modestly compensate staff who are abruptly terminated in employment for structural reasons & not preformance deficits? If this was a company who paid out this we’d call them tight, if they didnt pay a penny & turffed people out without a pound, we’d be all outraged and there’d be picket lines & unions shouting. Honestly i am weary of the state of Irish public media, when they’re not kowtowing to harrassment campaigns by activist groups intimidating them into spouting propaganda instead of facts or rebroadcasting foreign dictatorships press releases like they’re vetted news they are at this rubbish, tryna twist & craft facts to create scandals to piss people off to get eyeballs & clicks to keep their failing business models alive
