Well, might be best to start boycotting those networks and convince his friends to cancel movie/tv deals with paramount and anyone involved with them.

But I guess that Hollywood is all talk, no action.

The people who boycott playing at the Kennedy center are way different. I never liked Hamilton, but those broadway guys are built differently!

Kudos to everyone standing up to fascism!

    2. Clooney could have as well but instead he helped focus on Biden being old. And here we are with a 79 year old president who falls asleep.

Telling Trump go f*** yourself is not the same as telling Biden go f*** yourself, George.

Hey George, you’re a multi-millionaire living in a country where buying policy has been defacto legal for decades. Fund a think tank or SuperPAC focused on getting people elected who will force 1%ers like you to pay their taxes or shove this performative nonsense up your ass and *fuck all of the way off*.

I am so beyond sick of hearing rich neoliberal boomer’s hot takes. You pricks are a *large* part of the problem and have been for *decades*.

yo let dan rather scream „go f*** yourself“ from a burning news desk while trump rides a golden escalator into the sun… cinema

Every tv show, movie and news cast should open with people telling him to go fuck himself.

When the Clooney family’s move from Hollywood to France to give themselves some peace, and their kids the chance at a normal life it really speaks poorly for how America looks to the rest of the civilized world.

Yeah they should but they’re both ran by oligarchs and oligarchs always, always kiss the ring.

Occasionally Trump comes across a clip of these late night talk show hosts telling jokes at his expense or criticizing him, and because he’s such a fragile, vindictive and malignant narcissist, he has to immediately respond by lashing out on social media like a temperamental child.

Trump is massively insecure and obsessed with his image and ratings. One of his deepest fears is being humiliated and embarrassed; being the butt end of a joke; being a „loser.“ This is why he views life as a zero-sum game; meaning that he must always be the „winner,“ no matter the circumstances.

This is also precisely why he cries „rigged“ whenever a competition or election doesn’t turn out in his favor.

In these case, it was never going to stop and end with a spiteful and emotional tirade on Truth Social—his favorite safe space where he receives an outpouring of support for any message he posts.

In response to being humiliated by Colbert, Trump saw an opportunity to bully a private company into getting Colbert’s show cancelled.

So he called on Brendan Carr at the FCC to do his dirty work for him, and an FCC that is now subordinate to him because Carr is a devout loyalist.

At the behest of Trump, the FCC applied regulatory pressure on Paramount; threatening their merger with Skydance while trying to force them into settling a lawsuit that had no legal ground to stand on in the first place.

But that did not stop Paramount execs from yielding to the Trump regime; all but emboldening the government in its continued targeting of news networks, media organizations, journalists, law firms, judges, prosecutors, universities, etc, who don’t toe the line and can be bullied, bribed, defunded or driven to exhaustion by tedious investigations and lawsuits.

It’s no coincidence that this incident corresponded with the Paramount merger and with the FCC’s investigation and the bureaucratic pressure it applied to Paramount. The Trump Administration, alongside an FCC that is beholden to the president, abused its political power and leverage to get Paramount to fold. If you think these things had nothing to do with the decision to cancel The Late Show, then I have some Trump meme coin to sell you.

And the audacity of right wingers to claim that there was no political agenda involved when their contrarian, cynical, crotchety and conspiratorial asses would be drumming up all kinds of theories if this situation were reversed.

It shouldn’t have to be said, but if you have any principles at all, you don’t submit to the demands of a wanna-be dictator hell bent on tightening the government’s grip on the media—no matter the cost.

Because as a consequence of surrendering to Trump’s unconstitutional attacks against the media, he emerges feeling more empowered than ever as his administration continues its aggressive campaign against free speech and the free press.

      Now, that said:

Trump has appointed loyalists into director positions within agencies like the FCC where they carry out his authoritarian whims against his critics in the media.

Trump appointed Brendan Carr to head the FCC. Carr authored a chapter in Project 2025’s „Mandate for Leadership: The Conservative Promise,“ which outlined FCC policies for a future Trump administration.

Carr previously served as the agency’s general counsel and as an aide to FCC commissioner Ajit Pai, you know, the guy who wanted to repeal net neutrality rules.

Unsurprisingly, Carr also supports changes to Section 230 and opposes net neutrality protections.

Carr publicly accused social media platforms of being biased against the Trump reelection campaign. During an on-air interview with Lou Dobbs Tonight on Fox News, Carr stated that „Since the 2016 election, the far left has hopped from hoax to hoax to hoax to explain how it lost to President Trump at the ballot box.“

He has also made baseless accusations against Adam Schiff, someone who Trump has incessantly attacked over the years; accusing him of overseeing a “secret and partisan surveillance machine.“

In other words, Trump’s decision to appoint Carr as FCC director is just one example of the many conflicts of interest that plague this administration.

And one of the most successful and central aims of said administration, as outlined in Project 2025 of course, is the establishment of a unitary executive beholden to no one. Basically an effort to turn the presidency into a monarch.

This has involved giving the president unilateral authority over just about anything, including his excessive use of executive orders to enact his agenda, a large percentage of which have been deemed or challenged as unconstitutional.

It involves giving Trump unrestricted powers over Congress and the judiciary; allowing him to flout checks and balances, defy court orders and abuse impoundment procedures to take control of the government’s purse.

Trump and his allies claim that this is the most transparent administration in history, but that same administration is orchestrating cover ups of massive scandals, eliminating practically all areas of independent oversight, and stacking the government with loyalists, billionaires and corporate cronies.

So even though Trump says that hiring should be based solely on „merit,“ his administration is founded on rampant cronyism, corruption and favoritism.

Trump has abused his powers to make independent agencies indentured to him. He’s turned the DOJ into his own personal legal arm, which he’s weaponizing against his political opponents, his critics, and anyone who has tried to hold him accountable in the past.

Trump has used the FCC to intimidate media organizations that don’t provide him with constant positive publicity. He’s putting economic advisors on the Fed board who align with him on monetary policy. He’s firing heads of agencies and institutions without cause and replacing them with kowtowing loyalists who will suppress or manipulate information and advance his policy goals.

His administration is also stripping civil servants of their protections in order to replace knowledgeable and qualified staff with incompetent lackeys whose only qualifications are that they pledge their undying fealty to Trump and the MAGA agenda.

    13. George Clooney can go take his millions and live in France. Why do you give a shit about this?

    14. Didn’t Clooney also say Joe Biden was a weak and out of his mind president? Just asking for reference here…

    15. I mean, messenger aside, he’s right that pre-emptive surrender has helped dig this hole. Everyone in power should have refused to oblige, but here we are.

So should a lot of people, but the world won’t dare stand up to him. The world will continue to bend the knee. Peace prize incoming
