Die Marktgröße der japanischen Anime-Industrie erreichte im Jahr 2024 einen Rekordwert von etwa 3,84 Billionen Yen oder etwa 24,6 Milliarden Dollar. Das Wachstum wurde durch starke Verkäufe im Ausland vorangetrieben.
Der Markt wuchs im Vergleich zum Vorjahr um etwa 15 Prozent und stellte damit im vierten Jahr in Folge einen Rekord auf.

I don’t watch a lot of anime anymore, but in my opinion this seems like an industry where China is catching up fairly quickly.
The problem seems to be the writing as a lot of these Chinese shows are just straight up slop, but once some high quality stuff comes out I get the impression that they’re going to eat Japan’s lunch.
Another example is in the games industry, where Genshin really took the world by storm.
