Ein Bereich um die berühmte Hachiko-Hundestatue wird von Mittwoch 6 Uhr morgens bis Donnerstag 1 Uhr morgens abgesperrt. Die Gemeinde wird außerdem Einzelhändler in der Nähe des Bahnhofs bitten, auf den Verkauf von Alkohol zu verzichten.

It was never an event to begin with
Man, I remember when Tokyo was fun. 90’s was a blast. Comedy was unhinged, Ai Iijima showing her titties on late night TV and fantastic clubbing.
Seeing as the majority of Japanese do not celebrate New Year with parties or fireworks it makes total sense.
Its a very important holiday here, and is the time of year where relatives get together, people return to their hometowns etc.
