      A low fat vegan diet.

      Get rid of the tummy

      or

Get rid of the last shred of joy in my life

      Oh decisions, decisions…

    2. I swapped to a plant based diet and so far I’ve lost 10 pounds in two weeks. I do also exercise 3x+ per week, for further context.

    3. Curious to know how that impacted muscle mass in each group. But not Curious enough to read the article.

      > eliminating animal foods and reducing oils and nuts

So they eliminated or reduced nutrient dense foods, replacing with less nutrient dense foods.

Science has done it again, folks.

Who funds this garbage and why is there so much low quality research in this sub? This is such an uninteresting study. People ate less calories and lost weight? No way!

Did the researchers address whether or not losing muscle mass is desirable? It wasn’t even calorie controlled. What is the point? Follow those people for 2 years and see if they maintain their body mass loss.

So.. eating mainly vegetables is good for weight loss? I would never have known. This is groundbreaking research.

    7. The authors say they adjusted the results for energy intake relative to the PDI, but I don’t see any table where they list the raw numbers nor do I see anything detailing the criteria for evaluating PDI. It sounds like they didn’t instruct any of the participants to weigh their food either, so I don’t know how they’re adjusting for energy intake.

Good thing healthy fats aren’t necessary for brains to work.

Also sounds fantastic for blood sugar.

    9. Just count your calories. I lost 30 pounds eating chicken nuggets and fries 10 years ago. I’m not saying I was super healthy or anything. I did it to prove a point. If you’re in a calorie deficit, you’ll lose weight.

Calories in calories out. Nutrition is important but weight loss alone really is that simple.

I stopped eating and I lost an amazing amount of weight. Turns out it’s easy to lose weight if you’re not taking in any calories. Publish my anecdotes!

Was wondering where this ground breaking research was published. I expected Kroger Weekly but no it’s in Frontiers in Nutrition with an Impact Factor of 5? WTAF?

    12. Why reduce oils and nuts? Are those not vegan? Oh, because this is about calories and not the diet actually being superior.

Yall are not smarter than the people doing research. Just look more foolish with these criticism that show you haven’t even read the abstract.

You can basically remove the word vegan and replace it with „calorie deficit“. The vegan part isn’t doing anything special here.

this seems very unhealthy. I dont eat meat but as a result i eat MORE nuts, oils, etc.

    16. A low fat vegan diet also causes wild mood swings and reduces the will to live*.

      *Not scientific advice

Technically replace food has higher dense of calories but easy to digest with food has lower dense of calories and more harder to digest lead to weight loss.

Really? Eating only vegetables let’s you lose weight faster than eating fatty foods? I. Am. Shocked.

I was on this diet and I absolutely was the skinniest I’ve ever been and it’s because I was miserable 🙂

What about lean body mass preservation? Weight loss is better when you’re not dropping muscle as well.
