      News snippet: Volodymyr Zelenskyy accused Russia on Monday of trying to sabotage peace talks and preparing to bomb government buildings after the Kremlin said it had foiled a Ukrainian drone attack on Vladimir Putin’s residence.
      Zelenskyy described the Russian claim as “another lie”. He said he was “expecting” some kind of scandal following his two-hour meeting on Sunday with Donald Trump in Florida, where “progress” was made towards ending the conflict.

      “They do not want to finish this war,” he said. He warned that a Russian strike on government complexes in the capital was now probable, similar to a bombing in September of the cabinet ministers’ building in central Kyiv.

      Though such would be an actual military target compared to a Ukrainian hospital, school, or daycare.

      If Putin wanted peace, he could pull out of Ukraine anytime. Instead he’s playing Trump like a violin and making up lies to delay.

      Russia doesn’t care about peace talks between Trump and Zelensky because it will keep bombing Ukraine for as long as its economy can sustain the war. If the West had been led by better, braver people, it would have given Ukraine everything it needed to destroy Russian energy infrastructure. Instead, Russia has been allowed to keep bombing the largest country entirely within Europe for four years, causing over $500 billion in damage, killing who knows how many thousands of civilians, and forcing more than six million people to flee the country. And what happens when the war finally becomes unsustainable for Russia? Will Russia be offered a face-saving deal that lets it get away with its crimes, save its economy, rejoin the international community, and keep the occupied territories? It’s incredibly frustrating how the West acts as if it’s powerless against Russia, when in reality all it would take to stop it is to threaten to arm Ukraine to the teeth, something we were led to believe would happen after Trump won the election.
