Half the reddit posts are too…. People trying to field ideas for their their shitty ai startup or are just precursor to telling about a new “tool” that is “better”

    2. If you do absolutely nothing to curate your own feed maybe. Look, I am critical too, but at the same time this is a product of how lazy people are today. I get essentially zero AI slop in my feed because I’m subbed to like 200 channels, and if trash comes up I say not to suggest it. You can’t just accept the fire hose and complain it tastes bad, control your feed people.

    3. AI is going to save legacy media by being too easy. Nobody wants easily made content (beyond fads)

    4. YouTube Music is taking a heavy hit, my Release Mix is 100% ai slop now because I once listened to one ai song

    5. I was looking for some videos/channels about space the other day, and had to sort through a veritable pile of garbage to find something that wasn’t AI generated or narrated by an AI voice.

It’s the same for top game lists of the year or whatever. Countless channels with generated thumbnails for „the best metroidvanias of 2025“

This shit is disgusting and anyone with more than 2 neurons to rub together could have predicted it. The AI thing is made all the worse in that nobody really asked for it: but enough consumers are going to utilize it anyway or simply not care that it will keep exponentially growing.

    6. AI short clips are always easy to spot.

benefits of fresh fruit, benefits of certain fruit, benefits of fruit, tips to clean which are wrong, film/episode synopsis, Healthy diets.

Easy to notice the voices are matching other vids or wrong pronunciation a lot.

This is why i only browse my subscriptions. If there are no new ones, i do something else.

    8. Note that this is talking about the feed for new users or people not logged in. If you’ve done literally anything to curate your feed (including just watching non-slop to indicate to the algorithm what you want to see) then you won’t see nearly as much.

In my experience with a nearly 20-year-old account, I see zero AI stuff in my recommendations.

Wait until the unelected Supreme Court rules that Berkshire Hathaway and Nestle can use AI ‘evidence’ against their smaller competitors in a court of law to prove felony charges.

This is why I stick to my subscription feed.  I don’t want a bunch of hollow crap flooding my life.

    11. If it’s a channel I don’t know, and it was posted within the past year, I am almost certainly not going to give it a shot at this point.

    12. Im more curious how what percentage of views can be tied to AI slop. Cause 20% of of content and 20% of views are two very different things.

Most of the slop probably never gets watched. And if you arent in shorts yoy are probably rarely seeing it.

    13. I wonder if it helps to leave comments like „I smell clanker“ on a few where it took a minute to notice or if it just feels good?

    14. It’s strange that when I search for a very specific IT problem at my job and it’s just some guy explaining the problem to me and how to fix it and it ends up not working or fixing the issue, that’s when I realize this bubble is going to pop.

    15. Don’t get me started on the damn AI slop review/comparison videos. Basically anything I search for now in terms of reviews or comparisons or recommendations are all 100% AI generated bullshit off youtube. Every. Single. One. The giveaway is that they put the current year in the title of the video.

    16. I keep finding Lofi channels that run continuously, only to read the small print. It’s all AI generated music.

      Fuck off with that shit

My Reddit feed is worse than that. That and ‘take my money’ type subs that pup up faster than I can mute them.

I’m starting to get so tired of hearing the word slop constantly on Reddit.

Give me the ability to easily produce professional studio-grade movies and the world will be turned upside down.

    20. its really demoralizing to see slop channels become mainstream and famous now, the other day I thought I was watching a well made story telling video with good animations(like fern), didnt doubt anything because the channel had 300k subs, just to realize this is all ai garbage and people are subbing to them and supporting them… I only saw 2 people in the comments commenting about this

man these small channels dont stand a chance anymore, a lot of the time they are ai made garbage so I dont even bother watching the video, I just skip them all entirely, burying the potential honest creators even deeper in the algorithm, sorry but I dont trust any of you guys anymore

that is all despite me doing my best to keep ai shit out of my feed, they keep appearing more and more, so no your argument to „curate“ my feed is very much invalid sir.

Have you guys seen Pinterest lately? I’m not exaggerating that it’s like +80% AI slop at this point.
