Die Geburtenraten in Türkiye sind von einem durchschnittlichen Wert von 2,1 im Jahr 2009 auf nur noch 1,36 im Jahr 2025 gesunken. Der Hauptgrund dafür sind wirtschaftliche, steigende Lebenshaltungskosten, instabile Arbeitsplätze, teure Wohnungen und Kinderbetreuung sowie sinkende Realeinkommen. Im ganzen Land haben junge Erwachsene die Heirat verschoben und weniger Kinder bekommen.
Die regionalen Unterschiede spiegeln hauptsächlich die demografische Zusammensetzung wider. Südöstliche Provinzen mit einer größeren kurdischen und arabischen Bevölkerung weisen historisch gesehen eine höhere Fruchtbarkeit auf als der urbanere Westen mit türkischer Bevölkerungsmehrheit.
Die Provinz mit der höchsten Fruchtbarkeit, Şanlıurfa, hat eine gemischte Bevölkerung von etwa 40–45 % Kurden, 25–30 % Arabern und 15–20 % Türken und hat traditionell größere Familien. Doch selbst in Şanlıurfa ist die Fruchtbarkeit unter dem wirtschaftlichen Druck stark zurückgegangen.
Auch in Großstädten kam es zu dramatischen Rückgängen: Istanbul ist von 1,77 auf 1,08 gefallen, Ankara von 1,68 auf 1,06 und Izmir von 1,57 auf 1,06, was auf die kombinierten Auswirkungen hoher Lebenshaltungskosten und städtischer Lebensstilzwänge zurückzuführen ist.

Nothing to do with economics, 176cm average male height is the issue, women should not have to deal with males below 190cm. Men should do better.
Remember this: the main economic reasons are very expensive houses/appartements and very long educational process (universities). This explains why with lower incomes people had more children . The rest is rather secondary
