What?! ICE agents weren’t recruited for their integrity, professionalism, and awareness of the law?
This is shocking…it’s almost like they were recruited because of their unflinching willingness to use brute force in the arrest of Brown people.
No shit this is how every authoritarian regime functions?
Doesn’t make them less dangerous, and thinking the administration is dumb all the time leads to inaction…
There are real people, that were part of ICE, that were professional. Not going to speculate on why they went into that particular area of law enforcement, but they were not uniformly terrible. Border control is a real job.
The current crop has been recruited with openly racist propaganda, harkening back to propaganda like “manifest destiny” painting and asmr videos with people in chains.
Now they have a huge budget, and they are not attracting the best and the brightest.
And some people really needed the money. Maybe that is the headline.
I don’t appreciate my federal tax dollars paying for cruel, inept employees, and the lawsuits that have inevitably resulted.
My hometown had a notoriously bad police department stocked with nothing but cops that had been run off for a nearby city. The police station was notoriously corrupt and regularly abused their power. And yet despite being an extremely unethical police department with no respect for the rule of law… They were also woefully disinterested in doing actual police work. Much like workplace bullies, they excelled at making your life difficult, but we’re extremely lazy and bad at their jobs.
I can’t imagine ice would be any different.

Eventually we will find out that at least half of the current ICE agents are just federal contractors and not even directly employed by the government.
The Nazi party’s Brownshirts attracted all sorts of failures who could succeed with it because it protected them. When ideology trumps any other factor you always end up with mediocrity and incompetence.

I don’t want to come across like I am picking on anyone but there was an escape recently from the DeKalb County jail down here in Georgia and the Reddit post about it was filled with comments stating that a lot of Department of Corrections workers resigned to work for ICE.
I disagree, they are sending their best. Their best are just POS.
All you have to do is watch a handful of these videos of them arresting people to see and know that.

In my old line of work (counter terrorism) I worked closely with some great ICE agents who were absolute all stars who worked their asses off to keep the country safe. Almost all of them have gone on to other agencies because of all the buffoonery going on at DHS and will readily tell you the agency is basically full of racist Billy bobs who wouldn’t last in the military and probably couldn’t make it through bootcamp.
$50k sign on bonuses and relaxed background checks were all we needed to see to know this is true.
The people actually qualified for this sort of work refused to do it because they knew it was wrong. Thus, the regime hired a gaggle of unaccomplished boors who hated their lives and were desperate to be feared and respected without actually earning that respect.
If you can run a mile in under ten minutes you have a serious chance of making it away from these fat f***s.
