So wait. She was on a mental health leave of absence, *then fired* (left that out of the headline)

Seems relevant. I can understand (not because it’s just, but because American healthcare sucks) that they could be in a position to cut her benefits during the leave of absence if they’re unfunded, but the cobra should have kicked in at a bare minimum. They did worse it seems. They *were* covering her while on leave then apparently fired her anyway.

But firing her *during* the leave of absence seems problematic and lawsuit inducing even if she didn’t kill herself. What else is the nypost leaving out?

Oof. This story is nuts, an definitely doesn’t reflect well on the company. I worked for another tech company like this in the mid 2010s and they were, while not this bad, definitely not good for my own mental health. I can buy the job pressure leading to mental issues. I definitely felt like I was gaslit pretty bad while there and then suddenly laid off after 26 months after moving my family 100 miles to a state we had no other ties to. This woman seemed stable before taking the job and then just fell off a cliff so…yeah.
