I felt like it also took twelve hours to watch.
So it should’ve only taken a few hours with a good actor then.
The whole thing could have honestly lessened the cheese.
Having a moment between Will and his mum, revealing what he wanted as he feared he might not survive the coming fight, would be a 10000% better way to do this than the awkward mass presentation he did.
I couldn’t help but think that a normal reaction would be that non of us care, we are about to attempt to save the planet from doom, we do not have time for you to bring us all to this room, taking us away from prepping to come out at gay.
Aw shit, you caught me monologuing again.
That scene was over the top cringe. Which is surprising considering how well they handled Robin coming out. I get why they felt they had to have the scene, but assembling the entire cast? It took time away from what could have been an awesome fight scene between >!the military and the group as they broke back into the upside down.!<
I’ve skipped it, because GOOD LORD the whole plot thread with Will’s being gay is abysmal levels of corny. All those overly melodramatic conversations with Robin (whose coming out was done MUCH BETTER) This was both a snooze fest and a shameless tearjerker, which is not why I watch ST
Did anyone else feel like he was going to reveal something actually plot related? I really thought there would be some kind of twist or reveal to raise the stakes for the finale instead of something the audience already knows.
Scene was really awkward and cringe too which didn’t help.
I thought it was beautifully handled. Though I admit, I was waiting for someone to say “we know” lol
When it cut from him just confiding in his mom to him sitting in front of a literal crowd had me laughing pretty hard. Like, half the people there had no reason to be there.
I’m no expert in television production but…why? I didn’t hate the scene as much as some others; it was a little corny and dragged a bit but it had some poignancy. I just don’t understand why such a scene would take that long?! He was the only one speaking…everyone else just had to sit there
Here’s a question.
Have we finally dedicated enough time to Will coming out? Can we be done? Can we please get back to the monster fights, or do we need another couple laps dealing with Will and his burdensome relationship with being gay?
I didn’t like despise the scene, I get what they were setting up for the final fight, but it felt like it went on about 2x too long.
The way it was originally planned for Will to come out to just Joyce and Jonathan and Mike overhearing was so much better than that corny mess
This season is pure popcorn/fan service entertainment only. Getting Lost viewing flashbacks thinking to myself, “damn we’re just making this stuff up as we go along here”
They overcooked that shit by about 11 hours and 59 minutes. Twice.
I think they were trying really hard to get something that would touch a lot of people but as someone else pointed out a conversation like that in the 80s would have been very, very, VERY different and it came across as they putting themselves in a corner they don’t know how to get out of.
It was just strange and out of place
Ngl. That and the Steve and Dustin hug. While can be seen as over sentimental. Both scenes had the emotional resonance that’s been missed this season. We’ve had too many scenes where it’s just spilling plot, there was an active choice to include Kali this season (and I didn’t hate The Lost Sister, out of place and followed from a brilliant cliffhanger), but she has no reason to be here and just feels like she’s added to the bloat.
This season is suffering from too much and too little. To me the show is not about the monsters it’s more the characters talking to each other about how much they mean to one another amongst the backdrop of this adventure. Season 4 was not like this.
And they spent 24 hrs of work for that? Damn
[I much prefer this guy’s version](https://www.reddit.com/r/aivideo/s/yYraEvdE0b)
I get the point in the scene and that the show is in the 80s… but after everything this group of people have seen, the fact that Will likes boys is quite literally the most normal thing about him.
spending alot of time ≠ good product
They overcooked it a bit. Maybe better if it was just to the mom. And the fifty mentions of what they had in common was weird. Like when was he going to stop talking. And no one had any major reaction was strange. But overall fine with it.
This whole season is pretty overdone. Every scene does not require an emotional breakdown, it’s way too much
The final season looks like shit, can’t bring myself to watch it at this point.
Seems like everyone disliked this scene lmao
I still don’t really understand how it really matters, I watch movies and shows especially sci fi and horror, for the sci fi and horror aspects… I don’t care about fictional characters sexuality nor their expositions on that topic – unless vecna made him gay and gave him gay super powers somehow , I just do not care.
2 4 h o u r s ? ? ?
Well, I felt those 12 hours just watching it. Could have done without that scene as I don’t see what it did for the overall plot.
I’ve really enjoyed this season, but that scene felt rough and unnecessary. It went on WAY too long.
