It is kind of funny how the US is recycling at the moment the pretext that was used for the Iraq war. Never thought they are big recyclers.

As a Moroccan i’m glad that the US won’t try to introduce democracy into my nation

I would bet that Colombia, between Venezuela and Ecuador, has more reserves.

Kazakhstan is shown on this infographic (it’s not really a map), just below Russia. But the label for how many gbbl it has seems to be missing.

    5. You heard it here first. Canadian terrorists are about to be a new threat to the US

Not all oil is made equal. Those 300B in Venezuela mean very little given they:

      – are very hard to extract due to depth and location

      – are complete shit given how heavily contaminated it is with things like sulfur, making it extremely expensive to refine when compared to other crudes.

Not all oils have the same quality, for example Venezuela has a pretty low quality oil and very expensive to extract

Oh man, someone needs to bring some democracy to Venezuela it looks like

    9. This map is fairly useless in that it doesn’t reflect the cost to extract the reserves, nor the quality of said reserves.

For example, Venezuela might have massive reserves, but the quality is shit and thus it’s super expensive to extract/refine.

      *Proven oil reserves

Like, they didn’t think there was anything in the North Sea until the mid 1960s.

    11. Canada is currently 167, however estimated over 1 trillion barrels but most not economically viable with current tech and prices

    12. This is wrong. Somalia has more proven reserves than Qatar. If only one day they can get their house in order they will make a killing

    13. So Venezuela, Nigeria and Iran are all on this list. I’ve seen these names on some list before… let me think.

For reference EU+Norway is around 10 Gbbl.

Similar situation to China considering the smaller population. Technically enough to be self sufficient if it’s reserved for primarily military purposes. So if renewables and nuclear become the vast majority of energy production.

Otherwise, they’re both obviously reliant on imports. Although Azerbaijan and Central Asia could offer such imports without the need for shipping in theory, again assuming a continued big push towards renewables and nuclear.

Hilarious that Iran probably has the worst energy crisis of any country in the world atm. Because their government is inept and funnels all their resources into the military or to palestinians/foreign wars
