    Es scheint, dass Zyprer (Griechen) ab Januar 2026 ein Visum benötigen, um die Türkei zu besuchen. Über die Zahl der Besucher aus Zypern wurde noch nie gesprochen, aber ich gehe davon aus, dass dies eine Vergeltungsmaßnahme vor Schengen sein könnte. Visa können bei dtvgroup.com.tr beantragt werden

      There should be nonstop Turkish Airlines flight Larnaca -> Istanbul. Would be extremely convenient to have more options and competition.

      E-visa is not much different from ESTA or similar systems. You can get it online.

      It’s just Turkey phasing out sticker visa on arrival procedure.

      I cannot see what this measure is in retaliation for. Being occupied?

      On the other hand, Turkey would like to undermine the Cyprus presidency of the EU and extract concessions by giving nothing as usual. Do they think that they can pressure us to finally give them free access to Schengen where the rest of the EU has not done so? Most likely this is not what they believe. They are looking to preempt the narrative for the possibility that we use the stick for their transgressions, while at the same time they are making it harder for Christodoulides to use the Schengen visa as a way to convince them to produce a better solution.

      Can you explain this further? Greek Cypriots have always required a visa to enter Turkey. Are they just abolishing visa on arrival and enforcing the use of the e-visa? If so, I cannot see how this is a „retaliation“. Turkey requires e-visas for many nationalities and it’s not exactly a minefield to obtain.

      It is blown out of proportion, as a RoC passport holder you already need an evisa to visit TR.

      I didnt even know you could get a visa on arrival, but basically thats what got stopped. My friends visiting TR always used evisa as that’s the simplest/fastest way.

      I think this is just regulation and for multinationals like me.

      In the past I entered Turkey with a different passport which expired and wanted to exit with RoC they asked me visa and I literally bought the visa online with a retroactive date in front of the passport police. It was that easy.

      Now it seems you woulnt be able do get retroactive visa thats all. So it become normal e visa. Nothing to worry about, it should have been like this in the first place.

      Retalitory? Turks can’t even go to Cyprus with a Schengen visa even though Cyprus is in the Schengen area. Turks need to apply to Cypriot Embassies (not even online application) to get visas to go to Cyprus.
