    1. Shut them down via slow permit renewal. If they were shut down, their permits were probably not continued or up to date.

Require the local county governments for renewal have things like no dust allowed. Low sulfur coal only. New bag houses. Burial of all coal ash or shipped off site. All roads to the site need widened with curbed sidewalks. Trains can only run from 2 to 3 pm on Wednesday. Set noise and dust levels. High voltage transmission lines need buried until out of local jurisdiction. Waste heat has to heat down town.

    2. „Forcing“.  As if governments don’t have the option to simply stop these data centers from accessing the public grid.

I find this really absurd because something like training LLMs isn’t time sensitive and can be reduced during times of peak load. Of course that means some of those expensive GPUs aren’t working 24×7, but the utilities should incentive customers to reduce usage when demand is high.

Trump guts solar and wind power just as power needs are growing exponentially. He shut down a multi GW wind farm that was 95% complete even.

So instead we get to burn more coal and gas. Screw the next generation I guess.

      They’re reversing climate change policy.

Countries are denying them because of the obscene water use locally.
