Hasn’t the damage really already been done? A ban now is like taking cigarettes away from chimpanzees. We taught them to smoke, didn’t we?

No, the only thing this weiner sees is „uh gurd other pupil don it, we need copy UHH“

Germany hasn’t had innovative political ideas in decades, literally.

    3. Banning them from socials can be good only if there are alternatives, like real life places where they can meet and socialize, or an activity they are invested and interested in. If the adults that had the task of educating them didn’t give kids these opportunities, it will be like cutting out the hour of air to a convict, it can’t end well.

    4. Here we go again.

We can hold everyone except parents for being responsible for their own kids.

I’m not saying social media companies don’t have a responsibility to young people but I do think the first people responsible for the activities of their children are the parents themselves.

It was the old who believed the lies and voted Brexit and Trump and Orban.

For the love of everything please just ban this shit for everyone until they can control it.

    6. Country fully backing a genocide sees merit to banning teenagers from seeing what’s occurring

I think everyone sees the benefits of banning kids from social media, it’s just about how you do it. It shouldn’t be a government/3rd party checking IDs. It should be making it easy for parents to opt their kids devices and connections into child mode that restricts these things.

And they also should be regulating from the social media side against dark patterns. Don’t allow AI algorithms to determine feeds. Don’t let users see live like/view counts. Don’t allow infinite scroll. Don’t allow out of app notifications for anything but DMs. etc. There are ways to make this less addictive for both children and adults.

    8. Social media in the form of Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, TIKTOK is a cancer.

    9. global effort to ban anonymity on the internet and link every one of your actions to your government id for totalitarian surveillance and to give the data to some tech billionaire to do with it whatever they please

Well, they won’t police the toxic garbage off their platforms, so I don’t see any other option. Obviously a society of people can not be put into a position where their children are being brainwashed with toxic content while they are powerless to stop it.

    11. The more I think about social media the more I don’t like it, or should I say, parts of it

    12. Everyone agrees that social media is harmful. But the solution we want is just to make you have to click „I am over 18“, not to hand over your government ID to some shady AF third party…

Well banning devices in totality is schools, then it’s they need to ban under 16..so far I haven’t see wide spread evidence of change, no significant increase in academic results over the entire banned population etc etc..I am open to the idea, not populist opinionated political rants.
