      If you haven’t seen headlights that leave spots in your eyes during broad daylight, I think you probably haven’t spent much time on the highways leading up from Edmonton to Alaska

      I intensely dislike the LEDs; ever since the Honda CRVs came out with them five years ago, I’ve fought a running battle with these things. Brightness standards MUST be enacted and rigorously enforced. Driving a main street after dark is torture, and I have to wear *dark sunglasses* in order to cope with the glare of multi LEDs shining through my windshield. Yes, I know, wearing of sunglasses is frowned upon because I might miss something and create a situation, but it’s better, IMO, than hiding behind my sun visor which cuts off ALL observation and makes matters worse. As you become elderly, eyes don’t function as well as they should, and mine have always been sensitive to bright light. If anything is going to force me off the road at night, it’s gonna be these things. *Please,* let’s do something about them before people start getting hurt or killed because you can’t see where you’re going due to oncoming glare!

      The projector headlights that iluminate everything except people and vehicles are neat but a lower tech solution would just be to polarize all headlights in one direction and all windshields in the other which would leave only running lights as visible to people in vehicles or wearing polarized glasses.

      There is a limit on how bright headlights can be in Canada, but it’s obviously not being enforced.

      A lot of people modifying their lights and putting in projector leds inside a housing that can’t handle it. So it becomes a laser cannon or some sorta UFO style search beam but except it’s blasted into your car

      Astigmatics report in 😅. Truck headlights should be lowered to the same height as a car’s.

      I put flood lights on my jeep and blast anyone with 15000 lumens on a switch any time they’re driving towards me with hibeams on. Let me tell you how fast people turn them off.

      Adaptive Driving Beam is the correct way forward. I have these on both of my vehicles and it means I get the maximum visibility with the minimum impact on other drivers.

      I replaced the halogen bulbs in my 2014 Elantra GT with LEDs and the increase in visibility is outstanding. The low beans have a very well-defined horizontal cut off so oncoming drivers are not blinded and therefore, I rarely have oncoming cars flash their lights at me.

      Alberta’s current government is just as like to repeal them because they’re considered overregulation.

      They need to start with manufacturers not consumers. Cars are coming with those awful lights.
