Flammschutzmittel, die häufig in Möbeln verwendet werden, stehen im Zusammenhang mit schwerwiegenden Gesundheitsproblemen, darunter Krebs und Schilddrüsenerkrankungen. Die meisten zwischen 1975 und 2015 mit Schaumstoff hergestellten Möbel enthielten eine Reihe giftiger Flammschutzmittel.

      This is interesting, but worth noting this reflects reduced exposure biomarkers rather than direct disease outcomes.

      The study design, exposure pathways, and potential confounders matter before inferring causal health benefits at the individual level.

      I’ve said this before but it is absolutely criminal what is allowed in mattresses. I have asthma and it kept me up all night gasping for air when I had a memory foam mattress.

      I now use an organic cotton and wool (as the flame retardant) mattress. Which is expensive and harder to come by, it should be the standard not the exception!

      This has been true for decades! Not only does it harm us, but it’s proven to give cat’s thyroid and other cancers.

    4. The real joke is that it was a legal requirement so you couldn’t even source something untreated

    5. For now I’ll take cancer over burning to death. If I have to choose. Good research though.

    6. Is this applicable outside the US? No idea how furniture manufacturing is regulated in different European countries for example
