I understand that it’s the only means of communication with the US, but can we please have a platform for Europeans to see those messages directly too? Most of us don’t use X and feel secondary finding out about things in the news with quotes from X.
I guess I should be grateful our leaders don’t give their comments directly to Russia Today at least.
„Digital regulation“ is a very nice way of saying censorship chat control and spying on its citizens. This is one of the extremely few things the US is in the right on.

Someone in Switzerland was sent to prison for saying that transexuals are mentally ill. The attack on freedom of speech from the left is unprecedented in modern times. You have to go back to Nazi Germany in order to see something similar. I don’t care how loud some radical leftist scream, the fact of the matter is that freedom of speech in Europe is under serious serious attack.

Dear Europe, as a Canadian you need to go hard on this. No one needs Twitter, Meta, Reddit, Tiktok, whatever social media flavour. If they don’t pay by the rules get rid of them. I’d argue the major issues in society today are caused for international media ownership and social media algorithms/ bot disruptions. Just kick them out.

Look, the EU has two choices: either quit trying to fine US companies and police content for Americans or just ban the US companies and deal with the domestic fallout that will follow.
Americans on both sides of the political spectrum do value genuine free speech and do view the EU as an enemy to it. This is not a left/right issue in the US(as much as the left seems to love trying to censor the right). It’s a genuine difference in worldview between Americans and Europeans.
The Trump administration(and any US administration for that matter) is completely within their rights to deny entry to anyone for anything it chooses. There is no such right for ANYONE to enter the United States without the express permission of the US Government.
The US has always had this policy for „individuals that share opposing ideologies to the American people“. We banned(and still do) people who are or were tied to communism as a rule, with very limited exceptions. Islamists are now banned from entering the US, reasserting the US’s identity as a Christian nation. Likewise, the 1st Amendment might as well be the 11th commandment in the US. So anyone who opposes what the Constitution protects as free speech, is subject to the same scrutiny. It is entirely a hostile ideology(censorship) to everything the Constitution stands for, whether you like it or not.
China has almost banned every US social media presence. Yet not a word from Trump and his lackeys.
This ban is just Trump trying to exert pressure on Europe and EU, and influence their internal policies to the benefit of techbro oligarchy.
