I watched the first episode, there were no real expressions of support. He makes fun of him a lot.

People love listening to someone else’s experiences and making it about themselves

Dave Chappelle is a phenomenal comedian. Truly one of the greats.

But the weird part of this era is how we treat him like his opinions are gospel.

He’s not a philosopher. He’s not an academic. He’s not especially educated. He’s a comic talking about his own life. That’s it.

Being insightful on stage doesn’t mean you’re qualified to explain society, culture, or politics. It just means you’re good at standup.

The problem isn’t Dave Chappelle. It’s us, acting like applause turns someone into an authority.

He admitted that he had hung out with him and the shit he’s been accused/sentenced with is pretty fucking bad. Yes could have done a better job, could have denounced Duffy harder, but he does talk about why it’s hard for him to denounce someone who saved his life. I’ve had shit come up with close friends who you find out you didn’t know as well as you did, it is a hard pill to swallow when a friend who’s been there for you winds up having really dark secrets.

    6. He keeps claiming all the accusations against Michael Jackson are false, and sorted other douches before. He’s a trash person: you don’t know if he actually believes the crap he spews, or just trolls to get headlines.

When did we start taking people who tell jokes for a living seriously? Chappelle tells stories in the first person, that doesn’t mean the story actually happened. If they did, I doubt 1) he would still be married 2) he would have been arrested at least a couple times 3) there would be streams of people who have Dave Chappelle was mean to me stories.

    8. His a fucking comedian be mad at the person that did it not the guy telling jokes about it. Man this country is really fucking cooked

    9. Used to love Chappelle’s comedy (about 20 years ago). He’s turned into a bloated, provoking hack. Sad.

Chappelle is not trying to make people feel comfortable, and he’s usually much more careful than offended people claim about what he’s saying.

Combs got convicted under the Mann act, which criminalizes consensual sex between adults. It was created to target black men in relationships with white women. It probably should be uncomfortable that a law that shouldn’t exist is how they got Combs.

Now, being confident Combs is awful, I don’t care that much. But this kind of thing is 100% Chappelle bait, and he can crank out 10 minutes on it easily.
