      Note to all the nuclear fanboys and -girls that are constantly yapping about China being smart and building nuclear power plants: China is building some of everything, including coal/gas/nuclear/renewables, and it’s going WAY harder into renewables than nuclear. It has less nuclear capacity than France (which has about 1/15th the population).

      Here in Europe we wants to achieve independence from fossil fuels, while some of the major manufacturing economies of the continent (in particular Germany and Italy) are expected to operate , and ideally grow, without the best available green technology; at least for now.
      This drives me crazy and feels incredibly stupid.

      It’s interesting that India and Pakistan have a much lower per-reactor capacity compared to others.

      Just a reminder that the global civilian nuclear fleet is less than 400GW which is where it has been for over a decade.

      Meanwhile last year over 580GW of renewables were deployed. This year even more will be deployed. If you’re pretending that nuclear is a solution for climate change, you’re fooling yourselves. And helping the fossil fuel companies by diverting money from renewables that can be deployed so much sooner.

      Can any of you nuclear fans explain why you love nuclear so much that you are prepared to slow down efforts to combat climate change? What do you get out of it? Do you even know? Have you actually seriously looked at your motivation?

      I’m an engineer. Nuclear uses a fascinating amount of technology and I admire the engineering. But what is it good for? On every rational metric it loses against sustainable alternatives.

      The nominal capacity of each of the four units at the Paks Nuclear Power Plant is approximately 500 MW, giving a total nominal electrical capacity of ~2000 MW (2 GW).

      One big silly thing that European powers made was going out of nuclear. We are in the age of nuclear energy and having energy gaps that crumbles whole Europe is insane. I hope countries will revisit their strategy. Independent for world powers are equal to their strength.

      Nuclear power is actually quite safe and is one of the least deadly energy sources! Even if nuclear disasters are included. (My ahh too lazy to find the source so someone help pls)
