Just some context for everyone who is just reading the title. In Belgium, teachers get days where they can do training to keep up to date with teaching methods and their own courses. On these days, children don’t have to go to school.

The government wants to remove these days so kids need to go to school more often . Literally nobody asked for this, not the teachers, not the experts, not the schools. And of course, not the students.

Pure symbolic politics so they can show that ’students and teachers need to work harder to get better grades‘, whilst completely ignoring the actual problems like teacher shortages, administration overwork, shortage of psychological support.
