I’ve met most of these, they’re actually incredibly smart and effective. One thing the article fails to capture is just the amount of energy to do the job these MPs have. Not to say a 65 year old MP doesn’t stay busy, but I wouldn’t be surprised if these MPs go to double the number of events and meetings.

I hope these young MPs will follow the sage advice given by a wise Canadian politician from yesteryear, when he was about their age, about the corrupting nature of political power:

“Politics should not be a lifelong career, and elected officials should not be allowed to fix themselves in the halls of power of a nation.“

„[they should] resign after serving [their] second term in office.“

      – Pierre Poilievre, 1999.

    3. It interesting that all 4 are Liberals. The narrative has been that the Federal Liberals are the party of home-owning boomers and can’t connect with young people. I always thought too much was made of that because the Liberals were respectable 2nd to the conservatives. The Liberal caucus now is the only one with MPs born after 2000 and there is a literally a voice for Gen Z in caucus meetings.

    4. >The group of four — Auguste, Mississauga’s Fares Al Soud, B.C’s Jake Sawatzky and Brampton’s Amandeep Sodhi — were all elected for the first time in April, and together they made history: They are the first Canadian MPs born in the 21st century.

Sawatzky and Al Soud were not born in the 21st century. They were born in 2000, which was in the 20th century.

People in their 20s make for terrible politicians.

Politicians should be expected to have had 5-10 years working experience before going into politics. More than ever we need people in politics who actually know how to do things, not just party loyalists who’ve never had non-political jobs, or even people who javent had regular careers.

You just dont know how the real world works if you havent woked yourself.
